how about this one ($125 top 3)?



I know the pitching staff is a serious work in progress, but I really wanted to focus on hitting as most of my early drafts have a nice staff.

I was in this draft with you and thought you did a really good job grabbing some good pitchers later in the draft. Oddly, I took the same route. I went bat-heavy and really tried to make up pitching later in the draft. If our pitching holds up, I could see us both doing well in this league. Also, I remember liking your Bruce and Beltre picks although I don't remember what rounds. Beltre was 13th or so?? Good value. His numbers away from Safeco are solid. Hammel was a nice late rd pick too. Good luck to all of your teams this year.

In my opinion, the problem most owners have is they discard the catchers... You might have someone beat on overall offense, but if they destroy you at catcher, which many good teams would destroy this team, then you lose the advantage you had over them at other positions... I think finding and taking value late (which is at pitcher and OF mostly) is the way to go.. focus on positional players (including catcher) and getting aces earlier

I hear ya on that, and I really had a tough decision in the 3rd between Cano and McCann. I went with Cano because of the surrounding talent, and I had other plans in the 7th/8th rounds when I feel the 2nd base pool REALLY falls off (after Lopez, Uggla, Stewart).



McCann is a stud, and I may have made a mistake. After McCann, I am not crazy about ANY catcher (based on where they usually go), so I feel it is best to wait.

I like the approach you took in this draft. I took a similar one in another league. This is my first year in NFBC, so we'll see how it holds up. I loaded up on the bats and threw a hail mary on pitching (Hanson, Floyd, W. Davis, Blanton, Duchscherer, G. Gonzalez, Meche, F. Paulino, Papelbon, B. Wagner, Zumaya, League).



Interesting point that Less Than Dave makes about Catchers. My view is that catcher is the most unreliable position after pitching. Catchers seem to fluctuate all over the place and the injury risk goes up. On the other hand, with 15 teams, it is definitely possible to drop a real bomb if you wait too long.

Our 2 catchers on our main event team last year afer the draft were M Wieters and Mike Redmond. Picked up Barajas in faab. Juggled some guys around for Redmond once Mauer returned. Our catchers were likely the worst in our leauge until Wieters was called up in June (July?). We won the league.



There are many ways to assemble a team and you're going to be weak in a couple spots in a 15-team league and, for some teams, it's both catchers.

your team will have an attrociuos batting average low rbis and if you wait as long on catchers as you did think about drafting a 3rd
