FA bidding questions

I'm in a top 3 satellite league and have notice a wide range of FA bids all the way from $400 for a player to $1. The Owner that won with the $400+ bid the second place owner had bid $190+. The ones that I won respectively went for $5 and $3.

My questions are does the winning owner have to pay the full winning bid price or just $1 more than the 2nd place bid?.

2nd Question a top 30-40 OF is available what is a fair bid so as not to extremely over pay for this player but not lose out on him buy being cheap. I was thinking somewhere between $50-100. This is the 1st week of the season and as everyones know you shouldn't blow your load so quick. :( lol

This OF would definitely be the 4th OF on my team.

Any advise/comments would be extremely appreciated

You can look up each league and get a good idea of the winning and runner up bids for similar players. There are no hard and fast rules - better to overbid and get the guy you want then to try to save a couple bucks for later. A player purchased today can help you for 25 weeks while the guy you get in the second half can only help for 1/2 the season. Good Luck.

You pay the winning bid not runner up plus $1.

If it was only $1 more, why wouldnt you bid $1000 (or the max you have) every time?
