Master Eligibility List Thread

Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Feb 14, 2005 3:13 am

Hey folks, I wanted to create one master list where we will address any eligibility questions you guys might have. We will be compiling a list and STATS will post it on the Web site. We also will e-mail this to everyone and have it available in each city. To simplify things having one master thread should help answer any questions that come up between now and the draft.

Here is the list of players who have been asked about with the positions they qualify under in our event. Again, if you have any questions about other players please post them here and we'll add them to the list. Thanks.

CATCHER

Koyie Hill

FIRST BASE

Travis Lee

SECOND BASE

Tadahito Iguchi

Antonio Perez

Clint Barmes

Ricky Weeks

SHORTSTOP

Jason Bartlett

Freddy Sanchez

Clint Barmes

THIRD BASE

Dallas McPherson

Garrett Atkins

Norihiro Nakamura

OUTFIELD

Jeremy Reed,

Nick Swisher,

Joey Gathright

Jason Dubois

Kendry Morales

DESIGNATED HITTER

Troy Glaus

Hey Greg,

Am I correct in assuming that players that only qualify at DH would only be eligible for the U position?

Tom, can we get a full list of those minor leaguers called up last year that you have assigned eligibility too (without going through stats somewhere else)ie., McPherson

Tom, Dallas McPherson and others do NOT appear on the "Position Eligibility List." The other names (McPherson, Atkins, Barmes, Weeks, etc.) can be found on another thread, and should be added to this thread if we truly want to make it a "Master Eligibility List Thread."

Because a lot of participants don't follow these board messages, I wonder how many will be surprised to see that the new Diamndback, Troy Glaus, is only UTIL qualified for the first couple of weeks.

Tadahito Iguchi? How does he qualify at 2B already? Isn't he considered a MLB rookie?

A player from Japan retains the eligibility of the position he played there last year. It was no different for Kaz Matsui last year or Hideki Matsui before him. Iguchi played second base in Japan last year and starts the year with eligibility at second base this year in fantasy baseball. That's common for most leagues in the country.

For the record, here are the positions for each player:

McPherson: 3B

Atkins: 3B

Barmes: 2B/SS

Weeks: 2B

Just an FYI, we'll print out a version of this list and have it available in each city. So if there are more players you have questions about who are not covered on the NFBC Web site please let us know so the list can be as comprehensive as possible.

Thanks.

Bumping this up for any last-minute additions to the list. Please make sure you ask us about any players you're not sure about so we can add them to this list as well as the master list on the main NFBC site.

Thanks.

Probably a good place to post this piece of news, courtesy of Rotoworld:

Rick Ankiel will attempt to convert to a full-time outfielder, effective immediatley.

If anyone wanted to draft Ankiel for offensive purposes, he would only qualify as a DH at this point in time.
