Last night at 12:30-1:00 in the morning, with FAAB still buggy, I went to bed tired & disappointed. Still, I figured I'd get up an hour early in the morning, review my nine FAAB results and set my eleven lineups before heading out to work at 7am.
This morning at 6-7:00, with FAAB still off and no word from the Fanball/NFBC brass, I left for work concerned & impatient. Still, I have internet access at work and I figured I could break away from my job for awhile to review my nine FAAB results and set my eleven lineups, before having to leave for Opening Day at Citifield at 11:30am.
Around 11-11:30, with FAAB still not fixed, no chance of resolution before I'd leave for Citi, and my impending unavailability to set my lineup before gametime, my growing irritation & aggravation turned to calm.... After all, what was I going to do? After all, I was headed to beautiful Citifield, on a perfect spring day, to watch my Mets dominate. I tried to keep FAAB out of my mind for the next few hours, and was pretty successful....with the help of a few Citifield beverages....
When the game was over, after having to make a couple "emergency" phone calls for work  , and calling my wife to let her know I was on the way home, I thought I'd give the NFBC/Fanball offices a call for an update.
Tom Kessinich picked up.
I asked Tom how he was doing....and he said he'd had better days. Of course he has. It occurred to me that Tom was supposed to be off today, his one day off in weeks before having to jump immediately into football, a fact I learned while chatting with him at the Main Event last week. So instead of being off, here he was patiently helping me (and I'm sure dozens upon dozens before and after). There was no sign of frustration or aggravation in his voice at being at work, dealing with an unexpected and out of control issue not of his doing, answering hundreds of frantic E-mails or desperate phone calls instead of relaxing and enjoying the plans he must have had to give up. Instead, his total focus seemed to be on resolving my concerns and making sure I was satisfied with the results.
By the end of the conversation, I was no longer concerned about FAAB or my lineups. Tom was on the job.
This is why the NFBC is my favorite contest. This is why they have my loyalty even in the face of controversy.
Because of people like Tom, people like Greg, people like Geoff....who put aside their own concerns for the concerns of their customers.
Not to minimize the issues of the past 24 hours (they did suck

Keep up the good work guys (but let's not do this again...
