A few things of interest-
There are three teams leading the way, and five of seven from New York. I'll use the Srebro logic in thinking that if New York had this many good drafts, then there wee a lot of bad drafters there, right Mark?
New York may be THE destination for sharks next year.
In the early going there is only two teams from the first weekend in the top 20. It would take someone smarter than I to tell me why.
Enjoy it now- There is not a CC's team in the top 50.
Best use of names for two teams-
First team name- Did She Jump?
Second team name- Or Was She Pushed?
Is it coincidence that 'Colonel Potter's Fantasy Fodder' is alongside 'Mash Unit' in the standings?
Same for 'DOUGHBOYS' and 'Fat Tub of Goo'?
Last, for the avid Board readers, you'll notice that one of the bottom five in the overall standings, obviously, did not stay at a Holiday Inn before the draft.

Our past overall champions have gotten off to slow starts in 2010 with only Terry Haney outside of the Top 350. Terry, our 2007 NFBC overall champ, is at lucky No. 13 right now. But as we all know, it's very early in the season and Bobby Jurney proved in 2008 that you can go from worst to first with a lot of hard work.

You put the "smarter than me" bait out there, so I had to take it.

With only 120 teams competing the first weekend compared to 435 overall, on average then 5.5 teams should be in the Top 20. I'll round down and say we're just three first weekend teams away from being on pace.

[/QUOTE]Brilliant!
We play a game based on mathematics, and I don't take that into consideration.
I'm as sharp as a balloon.
(I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on rounding

Overall standings are a nice thing to look at, but the season is just underway and too early to make any kind of prediction.
A few players haven't even scratched the surface of their potential. There are already some significant to key injuries among the top players (Rollins, Roberts) and everyone is hoping that the first significant stud pitcher to go down won't be on their team. Also, shelved first-rounders or significant players like Kinsler and Beltran could be joining their real and FB teams soon and make quite a bit of difference in the near future.
I am expecting big things from the Yankee offense once they open up today in the home run friendly Yankee stadium. It could shake up the standings although they matter little right now.
For now, I am content that my team is still competing offensively despite my top picks Arod and Reynolds underperforming. I am sure quite a few teams are like mine.

I'm going to keep trying to be smarter than you Dan on this thread. I just have to try.
Why? Because your data was waaaaaaaaaaay too early!! We're now up to three teams in the Top 20, so rounding my number down to 5 we're even closer than we were before my last answer!!
And not only that, but a first weekend team is now leading the Auction Championship (Stephen Jupinka) and both ends of the Double Play (Michael Camporeale). So don't discount the first weekend teams, just yet, including yours.

Just received my insurance certificate. Now when should I stop cheering for my team and starting wishing for my insured player to go down?

Dan, this line just makes me want to look up these facts every day, just to prove that there is someone -- ME -- smarter than you!!
As of today, four of the Top 20 overall main event teams are from the first weekend of drafts, and actually a fifth team is 21st overall. So you're looking at 5 of the Top 21 teams being from the first weekend of main event drafts, which is right where it should be statistically.
Let's see how it plays out, but statistically this is pretty cool.

Now that Dan has me looking at the overall standings each day for Week 1 vs. Week 2, I find it interesting that today's Live Double Play has the top three teams from Week 1. In fact, the Top 3 overall teams in the Live Double Play drafted in Atlantic City, LV/St. Louis, and Las Vegas. Pretty interesting.
I enjoy the thread about the 2-weekend concept for the NFBC and I was going to start a thread like that for an intelligent discussion, but obviously the time didn't seem right prior to getting the back-end stabilized. I think it's a good discussion now and I applaud Dan for introducing it in a civil way. The feedback thus far has been helpful to me. I also liked his comment about food and how possibly having a "banquet" if you will after the draft might be even more fun. In Las Vegas people have plenty of things to do and places to go and people to see, but I could definitely see where the buffet after Round 30 would make more sense than the buffet after Round 20.
I like the concept of folks having dinner, discussing strategies, bringing all the boards together in one area and really extending the Draft Day experience. I don't know if we'll do that or not in 2011, but it's an interesting thought. I'd even like to start a separate thread on that later on. But thanks again for the civil discussion so far. I have my own personal views on the two-weekend concept for the NFBC, but will hold those until I can properly survey the group at some point going forward.

I agree with Dan. Sitting down and having that dinner afterwards in St. Louis was good. I talked with guys I never met before and we got to share some thoughts and results on our teams.
