NFBC Site Update Thread

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Apr 16, 2010 10:21 am

It's time to get back to the business of having one thread with the latest updates from the IT guys in St. Louis. I know it's been a quiet end of the week, and in many ways that's good. The IT guys are doing all they can to upgrade the features you are asking for while making sure the stats and standings are running properly.

The other update thread got overrun with requests, so I decided to start another one and give you the latest news. We are working on your requests and had hoped to get most of them done before the end of Week 2, but here's the latest:

** The Watch List is now live under Free Agents. You can see the Watch List in the upper right hand corner of your free agents listings. Click on the + to add to the Watch List and then you can see Stats and Newsbreaker information. This looks really nice.

The Watch List can even be accessed from your Home Page under Player News. Look for that tab there now. That could save you a lot of time during the week.

And finally, John and his team is working on more enhancements to the Watch List for next week that will even led you bid on a player from your Watch List. Again, that should save you plenty of time, especially if you have multiple teams. This is now live, but more enhancements hopefully are coming here.

** The message on your Team Stats page is that enhancements and a better page are coming and that's been there since last Friday. We added Year To Date stats yesterday and Cory and John are working on links that will show stats of your Bench Players and more. That will be available next week.

** John has identified a solution to speed up the delivery of free agents. It might not be done by Sunday, but it will be soon. Free agents should load in a matter of seconds within the next week.

** The tabs for Set Roster are being worked on now and almost done, I'm told. Once we get that we can keep the matchups in place and set your lineups for the next week sooner. Look for that soon as well.

** Daily email sends are being finished as well. Look for those about each team very soon.

Sorry for the delays. I know it is Week 2 and you wanted all of these features from Day One, but we're listening to your requests and will get these features unveiled next.

No need to load this thread with requests. We hear what you want next, but let us get these key features finished first. Thanks all.

I don't know if this has been brought up, but the standings in the live scoring do not match the standings on the league home page this morning.

Greg,

I think it would be great if the dev team could add to your post a list of the ongoing development items. This would give everyone comfort that ongoing work is in process on key items.

Greg,

I would like to see the person picked up with the person who was dropped DIRECTLY BELOW THEM on the transactions page. Guessing who dropped who for who gets old. I could get used to it I suppose, but it is a bit of a change from what I (and others) am used to.

Thanks!

Thanks! The problem Billy is that there are no drops on that page. That's what needs to be added to complete what you are saying and right below it would be best. I'm asking for that. I agree. It should be there.

[/QUOTE]I'm talking about the history link, which shows who picked up who and who they released. With STATS, the pickup was on top and the release was right below (or vice versa). Now all the pickups are lumped together, and the drops are lumped together.

I think you are talking about the waiver history link (which shows the amount they went for and runner up bids).

Greg,

Can your IT folks find a way to change teams while in the Live Scoring Window.

We have now added a "My Waiver History" page within the transactions dropdown that allows users to see prior weeks bid lists. It includes notes on the bids to help everyone understand what happened. You can see all of the bids you made for each week and what happened within each bid, whether you got that player or not. Check it out now.

This is helpful for me as well since I was unable to see past bids once FAAB run. I had several people asking me for answers about Sunday's bids and now all of that should be there for each owner to see. Good luck with this and we look forward to feedback on this new feature as well.

If you go to your Watch List now, you will see that it includes a toggle that allows you to filter your list for only available players in THAT league. Your Watch List will carry over to multiple leagues and now those lists will only show free agents that are available in each league. Check it out.

We are working on the feature of bidding from your Watch List and that should be ready soon. You'll have it for this week's bids, that's for sure.

Thanks all.

I think you're going to like our next new rollout from the IT team. If you go to Free Agents now you'll notice that there are several new features for everyone. Among the best is almost a split second load time between positions once the Free Agent file has loaded. Check it out, it's pretty slick.

Also, here are other added features to the Free Agent pages tonight:

* Ability to view all teams remaining FAAB budget

· Added stat categories to help with player selection (adding MI and CI)

· INCREASED SPEED – this includes:

o Faster initial loading from the previous version

o A new tabbed position list that DOES NOT REQUIRE A PAGE RELOAD to switch between positions!

· Player added date stamp

· Player list sorted by Owned % as a default

· Enhanced messaging to ensure users know which list they are working with, and that they MUST save the list. All other functions will be grayed out except for the active list that needs to be saved.

· Player stats for 2010, 2009, 2008, last 7 days, last 14 days, last 21 days.

Nice job John, Cory and the rest of the programmers. These are all requested features that will save folks a lot of time, especially those with multiple teams. Thanks.

We have created an Internet Explorer runaround for tonight that avoids the error message and lets NFBC owners into the free agent pages. It should give you access to everything everyone else has, but it won't let you sort by stat categories. That's for tonight and hopefully we'll have that solved tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, but they spent a lot of time on this today.

It was interesting talking to Cory about this. All browsers are under the same guidelines so that programmers can make these things uniform, but Microsoft has their own set of rules and thus IE has more problems. This is causing problems with everything from Live Scoring to Free Agents and these guys are addressing these problems each time. Hopefully we'll have this one solved tomorrow.

The rest of the features we had hoped to unveil today will be pushed back to tomorrow. We're on them and should have many of these ready soon. One of them is daily emails for each of your leagues that should start Friday morning. They will include standings, last night's player results and player notes. We are testing that tonight for the last time.

Unless I'm missing some thing this upgrade is a huge step back for me.

Before we had a tab for "All Hitters". Now we have to switch back and forth between tabs to get a feel for the player pool. And doing off line analysis has now become an lengthly chore.

I'm just not understanding why it has been such a battle to keep the all hitters feature.

Also, the load time is much slower than before when it loaded into Hitters only. I assume this is because on the backend the query has to load up pitchers as well now.

Please bring back the all hitters tab.

Thanks,

Josh

Scott I believe emails will go out tomorrow morning for everyone, but that hasn't been confirmed just yet. But I believe that is the plan.

Some great updates, especially the new FAAB page.

Any update on bench stats on out Team Stat pages? It is really helpful to have that available on one page when considering roster moves on Mondays and Fridays.

Thanks,

SJ

Thanks,

SJ Yes, those should be done today. I will update that as soon as they are done. There are three areas we should have done soon and then most of the major updates will be done. These should be done today and/or tomorrow. Stay tuned. I promise I'll update here, which is what this thread is for. I'll update as soon as I hear from John and Cory, but we're getting closer.
