Is it a strategy to use pitchers on your bench who are currently on the DL to fill an early week roster spot so that you can change out for a pitcher with a favorable matchup on the weekend. This same pitcher may have an unfavorable matchup early on. Or is the pitcher DL rule only for pitchers that go on the DL while in your current lineup that current week? It appears you can insert a DL pitcher in your lineup for the week ahead.
This is probably a basic question, I've just never played under these rules before. Thanks.

Although I never used this strategy, I think your able to do this. I was thinking about doing quite the same for the first time.

Yes, this can be done. For example, Eric Bedard (DL) starts the week for you because you have Barry Zito with two starts; but, you want to avoid the first start @ Coors Field and take advantage (on paper) of his second start @ Petco Park.

yes, 100% this can be done.

Gekko, this is legit as the rules state so its legal; there should be no questioning. Now, its starting to look like rules don't really matter though in some ways, so maybe that's an integrity issue.

Since the use of the DL pitcher is allowed to achieve this strategy, I am not sure why one free pitcher move is not allowed each Friday, like position players. Everyone should be on the same footing in 2011 without having to resort to this type of circumventing of the system.

I started beating that drum in 2006. The change was enacted this year. It takes time before the majority is acceptable to change.
It is only natural that pitchers should be next. Resistance will come from those that say streaming pitchers is a no-no. Strategists would revel in more options.
I would be in favor of it. I'm not really a streamer, per se, but I want to be in control of who my pitcher faces. If he happens to have two starts one week, I'd like to choose whether he faces zero, one, or two teams that week. Not just zero or two.
Until the site is up to snuff, this will most likely be backburner stuff.
