Why did I respond to your post with "Pretty weak"? Well, let's see:

(1) I felt bad that you had no responses, so I wanted to throw you a bone.

(2) Why would people who are paying $1,250 to be in a league want to join a $40 league?

(3) The league format sounds, well, pretty weak.

(4) You mention in the title that you have "like 2 open spots." Is that 2, or approximately 2? With shaky details like that, it's hard for people to get excited.

(5) Are you making a profit from the CBS code? You've mentioned it twice now.

(6) Why should we trust you with our $40? What are your credentials?

I could probably list a few more, but that's enough for now.

Queen of Queens? We've already heard that one--try something original next time.

Amazing that a two word ("pretty weak") would bring out such a lenghty discussion. Next time, I'll choose two different words to see what the response is.

Not sure what exactly your problem with me is, but can we please have a beer together on March 19th and make amends? I promise not to bring my laptop to the draft, if it will help you feel better about me.

As for the message board thread, read it back to the beginning. All I said was "pretty weak." No insult intended, and not worth explaining. However, Pancho asked me to explain myself, and so I did.

Hopefully I do better than I did last year in baseball. I had terrible luck, but success in football (3rd overall + league champion) will MORE than pay for both this year and last year.

Best of luck to you, and I'll see you on the 19th for that beer.

I'll have to agree with the Queen here...just kidding...King...

I'd be embarassed to pimp my local league on a site like this...that's what yahoo and cbs are for...and worse yet if they hold a similar draft before our draft...most likely...it's a sucker bet to smell out your player preferences.

It was a great experience. Seriously, a really fun event and a learning experience to boot. After many years of baseball auctions, this was my first football auction. I will sign up sometime in the next few months to give you and Jersey Paul a run for your money.

Are you signed up for baseball, or are you just a one-trick pony?
im an Auction Pony....not a serpentine Pony...i believe in 10 years, Auction Drafts will be the predominate league type as serpentine drafts dwindle....auction leagues are the majors...sepentine are the minors....just so much more involved in Auction, so much more strategy, lot less luck, more skill, more enjoyment, more for the advanced roto player, serpentine is a nice intro to fantasy but i think all serious players will eventually gravitate to Auction leagues...just one man's opinion.....NO EXCUSES IN AUCTION LEAGUES AND NO LUCK...all drafting skill...u never hear "ya but i had the 14th pick, or i had the 13th pick, thats why i had a bad year" ..this puts the blame on the system, eventually causing one to sour on the system, and thereby leave the system....only to find a divine place of fairness and equality, where only the skilled may win!

[/QB]Fandango, totally agree with you. Serpentine style really takes strategy out of the whole thing. Considering if you draft 10th, you have no chance at a top 5 player. At least in an auction you can make people overpay for those players instead of just handing them over based on luck of the draw.

I would absolutely love to see the NFFC and NFBC main events go to an auction format. I wonder if there is too much potential for collusion, though...

Queens, i think that collusion argument is "VERY WEAK" , JP made that statement last year and i didnt agree with it then....please explain to me in detail, how with no trades, you can have collusion in an Auction draft????
it has little to do with collusion (IMHO), but instead it's the fact that auction drafts take twice as much time (if you're lucky).

While it might be 'nice' for drafts to switch to predominantly auctions, it will never happen.
