If anyone watched the Phillies / Giants game today, you were treated to a classic. Lincumb dominates through 8 and it looks like the Phils are dead, but they came back on a 3 run bloop double by Werth that hits the chalk line in RF. (After Boche puts the closer in -- bad move). Then Phils go up by one in the 10th on a passed ball....only to see the Giants tie it up in the bottom half of the inning. Phils get two more in the 11th on a wind-assisted fly ball and a dropped ball by the Giant's LF. Then in the bottom of the inning a runner is called out at the plate when he puts his hand right on the cather's glove which is on top of the plate. Great game!

This is why I hate it when people act like they know everything after they already know the results. All the nay sayers will come out of the wood work when things fall apart. If Wilson shuts the door nobody says anything except all of the Lincecum owners in leagues that award for complete games.
Brian Wilson has been untouchable this season and has been one of the best closers in baseball for the last few seasons. He's supposed to lock that game down. I can understand not putting in the closer if it's someone like a Madsen/Wood/Gonzalez type because you can't trust guys like that in the 9th or later. I'm sure Bruce would do that 100/100 times if given that same choice. The CLOSER is supposed to do his job.
I get that Tim was awesome and just issued his 1st walk of the game and was only at 106 pitches, but this is what your stud closer is paid for. To CLOSE out the game, especially with a 3 run lead.
WOOT WOOT to the PHILS!

exactly.. whats the F-ing point of letting your best pitcher start the 9th only to pull him after a lead off walk??!! if his leash was that short to start, then just put in the closer to start the inning. wilson has missed save opps over the last two games because of the score.. he needed the work. timmy wasnt going for a no hitter and he wasnt going for a shutout. there was NO reason to put him back out there unless you were going to let him get in and out of trouble. it was the top of the order!!
add bruce bochy to the list of people i hate right now. that being said... most of them are guys on my team.
baseball is always a joy.. fantasy is not!

It wasn't a lead off walk, he retired the first hitter and then the walk came. It was an ignorant move. I agree you go with your closer unless you have the premier pitcher in baseball absolutely cruising within a reasonable pitch count. Bochey would take it back if he could.......
