Which do you enjoy watching more?

Having one of your pitchers go out and completely dominate the game and pitch a shutout?

-or-

Having on of your hitters go out and get multiple hits (and maybe a homer or two)?

I generally enjoy watching one of my pitchers go out and dominate the other team - a nice low hit, high strikeout, maybe give up a run (at most) type game versus watching one of my hitters go nuts.

I think it's because with the pitcher they're out there every single inning making something happen versus every 3 innings or so for the hitter.

Colagero: Is it better to hit or to pitch?

Sonny: That's a good question. It's nice to be both but it's very difficult. But if I had my choice, I'd rather Pitch. Pitching lasts longer than Hitting. Friendships that are bought with money mean nothing. You see how it is around here, I rip a double --everybody cheers. I know I can hit, but not that much. It's pitching that keeps them loyal to me. But, the trick is not to be hated. That's why I treat my men good, but not too good. I give them too much they don't need me. I give them just enough where they need me, but they don't hate me. Don't forget what I'm telling you.

A dominant pitching performance goes much further into helping a fantasy team than does a dominant hitting performance.

I took his question as "on a given day, would I rather watch one of my hitters go 4-4 with a homer and 4 rbi or a pitcher throw a complete game gem?" I'd rather watch the CG gem because one of those is more valuable for that day than virtually anything a hitter can do besides the bizarre 4 hR or 5+ SB day.

I did not take it as "who will help your team more over the course of a season? the best hitter or the best pitcher". If that was the question, then I'd rather have the best hitter.
my bad. Do the kids still say that? I may've misunderstood the question myself.

I concur that for 1 given day, a dominating pitcher's performance is probably superior to a good hitter's day.

Unless it's a Michael Jack Schmidt 4 HR day
Agreed. A no hitter or perfect game, imo, is more impactful than anything a hitter can do short of the obscene (4 HR, 10+ RBI, 5+ SB).
