Hi,
In addition to the NY $650 Auction League, I plan on participating in other cheaper, NL and AL auction leagues.
The sites in the price range that I am looking for (under $200) that have a reasonable prize % payout are CDM and CBS Sportsline.
CDM's $100 leagues have a $500 payout for 1st and a free entry for 2nd, while CBS' $100 leagues have a $600 first prize, so prizes are a wash between the two.
Both have 10-team leagues with 5x5 roto scoring, with similar roster sizes, but trades are allowed in CBS (which would be the only thing leaning me away from them at this point due to fear of collusion).
So, I wanted the advice of those who have used these sites or others as to which is more reliable or any other factors.
If you have other reputable sites in the $75-$150 range with 60+% payouts that you would recommend (with 5x5 NL and AL leagues), please let me know as well.
Looking forward to the NY Mixed League, hope it comes to fruition, we're getting there.
Thanks in advance for your advice,
Adam

I have drafted 2 CDM teams already this season and I have had nothing but trouble with their system. During both drafts I have been booted from the system at least twice each draft and have had endless problems with the draft page not refreshing even when I continually hit the refresh button on their site. This in turn leads to not being able to see who has been drafted previously and makes it pretty tough to have a good draft. I have contacted them several times about the problems and they basically told me to update IE and make sure that my firewall is off and I have a broadband connection. In other words their program sucks and they dont know how to fix it.
I havent drafted with Sportsline but in my opinion it cant be much worse than Draft and Play if it is I would be shocked!!

I know of a site that will be putting up 70% payouts. 12 Team roto 5x5, no trading. Very flexible rosters, live online draft, etc.
I don't have an exact launch date, but it looks to be about 10 days away. We're running season #1 at Leaderboard Sports for fantasy baseball, but we need to confirm our MLB licensing situation before we can roll out. If it's okay with Greg, I'll post more details when the game opens in early March. I'm don't want to use this board to pimp our site but it does fit the mold of what you are describing
More if Greg permits it.

For someone who is not a trekkie, your knowledge of the Borg is impressive.

CBS sucks...they often have wrong stats during the season...and are slow to correct them.
Any league with strangers...that allows trading...and costs more than 10 bucks...is a potential sham...stay away.

Interesting how you aren't giving Dvy a hard time for plugging his own money earning partnership even though you dragged Poncho through the ringer on the same issue???? (And I am not saying what either is doing is right or wrong.)

your overrating having a top pick in the draft's importance
A/ your draft is made in the middle rds not with your 1st pick - You should be able to get a stud 1st or 14th
B/ Snake takes excuse out - who is to say in a 12 tm league 12 and 13 is not better then 1 and 24 -- it is all about what you know and some luck no matter the format
C/ You could say an auction allows you more freedom to land whoever you want. But really only to point because if you got some other guy making crazy bids you have to alter your course anyway
I think there is positives and negs to both

I think there is positives and negs to both i wasnt saying #1 spot was the best, just that there will always be that undercurrent that you could have had a better spot if you were more lucky, not all teams will gripe but inevitably there will be a few....especially in a 15 team league..to have the 13 or 14th overall pick is almost a second tier player....
what are the negatives in an auction draft?? if a team blows the budget on pujols, then they wil have to suffer the consequences....nobody or nothing to blame but yourself....you see the difference...

Are you simply accepting that criticism of the inevitable assimilation is futile?
Please feel free to lambast me to make everyone happy. I don't mind.

Dyv [/QUOTE]Before bashing Dyv, I decided to wait for Greg's ruling on whether he would allow advertising of a competing product on his message boards. He has done this in the past with the game offered by the bobblehead company last year, but sponsor money goes a long way here. Thank you, MVP sports for the multiple drink tickets!.
In any event, what Dyv and LBS are offering would not be confused with a low budget local league. The pancho league was akin to marketing tampons during the Super Bowl--just very out of place.
