Today would be a good day for Tampa Bay to call up Hank Blalock. 3 of 4 games coming up are against lefthanders, and Hank has been murdering LHP down in Durham (.500 avg., .833 slg, 1.330 OPS ) while Carlos Pena, who was benched the last time the Rays played a southpaw, is only hitting .159/.318/.477 against them. The only question is, will this be a platoon or a full time opportunity for Blalock? and what would you bid for HB?

Hank Blalock is left-handed. What legal marijuana clinic is supplying you?

We will bid 56. Will you bid 57?

Willy Aybar would play first place against lefties if it came to that. Blalock could platoon DH against righties though, no doubt.

I take back what I said earlier. Blalock's career .656 OPS against lefties would be an improvement over Pena.

Start your triple digit bids now Your right. With Burrell gone, Blalock gets fulltime ABs, Pena and Aybar platoon.

Maybe I did the illegal kind, but if I did I'm sure I didn't inhale.

Ouch. Everything going the opposite the way I think it should have today. Why didn't Blalock start? Why didnt he pinch hit in the eighth? Why didn't Madden pinch hit Blalock for Aybar in th bottom of the ninth? I guess thats why Madden makes the big bucks and I muddle along playing fantasy baseball and at the same time watch my Mariners continue to suck. oh well...looks like Blalocks call up was more about the Rays wanting to keep the contractual rights to the player than wanting to play him.

Rumor has it that Blalock fell asleep in the locker room after going back to get a jacket.
