I have seen this rule before but I couldn't find it today - any help would be great.

I own Brett Anderson. He will be on the DL on Monday when he makes his rehab start but if it goes well then he might pitch for Oakland next weekend. Can I:

Start the week with Anderson in my lineup.

If he isn't activated by Friday morning, and I find out that he isn't going to pitch for Oakland on the weekend, pull him out and replace him with another pitcher?

I know you can't manipulate the roster spot to essentially use two starters during a week, but this would just be using one start. I would just be delaying the choice of a starter until Friday.

"The Smoltz Rule"

I think the system will allow it but the NFBC won't. Greg can chime in. I think last year they made sure no one did this manually checking each league.

Yes, you can start the week with Brett Anderson in your starting lineup. And if he's still on the DL by Friday you can replace him with someone on your bench. That's totally legal. Good luck.
