Carlos Villanueva pitched the ninth Thursday for the first save this season by a Brewers reliever other than Trevor Hoffman. Anyone playing in the NFBC for more than a year knows how very difficult it is to pick up a closer on the waiver wire. Villanueva is currently closing for the Brewers. Old man Hoffman can't get anyone out. Would anyone be surprised if Hoffman shut it down right now and retired? Acquire Villanueva NOW before Hoffman officially shuts it down, otherwise Villanueva's pricetag doubles or triples.
Jorge Posada is out for at least a month, maybe longer. Enter Francisco Cervelli. Looking at his contact rate and xbh power tells me he's a .290+ major league hitter. He also has accumulated a MASSIVE 17rbi's in only 70 at bats. Playing in that stacked NY lineup does wonders. If you need a catcher, he could fill in easily as a top 12 catcher while Posada is out.

what do you think about Lucroy?
Would you choose Cervelli over him?

THE HYPE MACHINE HAS STARTED. this is old news. any owner worth anything already knew this news. you arent breaking anything. you are just trying to stir up some heavy bids.
congrats on not only on your strong start, but your ability to freak everyone out and have them drop waaaaay more money then it will take to get these players. its strategy.. and i get it.
but im shocked you didnt start the bidding at about $300 for nilla wafer and about $150 for cervelli. so my bids of $301 and $151 are on they way.
hoffman could very well get the next save opp and old man posada swears he will be back sooner than they say......

Would you choose Cervelli over him? for THIS year, Cervelli. Lucroy needs more seasoning in AAA IMO. Of course if you miss out on Cervelli, Lucroy would at least be a warm body.

I still like Zach Braddock for $1 -alas he is probably not in the NFBC player universe.

He is the brewers 5th best prospect according to Baseball America.
He is the sexier pick up however.

Only question mark is why they continue to allow Journeyman Smith to close in Nashville.

The FAAB process missed you last week Mark.
Holland, Blalock, & Ely went for bargain basement prices last week without you there to help pump up the prices. I mean there wasn't even one $500 bid in the bunch!!!

Milwaukee will have at least one fresh bullpen arm in left-hander Zach Braddock, who will be promoted from Triple-A Nashville in time for Sunday's series finale.
