"Successful Bullpen Session"

Today, Brad Lidge completed a "successful bullpen session".
What exactly does that phrase mean? I hear it all the time, and it is just ridiculous.
Is it deemed success....
if his arm stayed on?
he completes a throw to a catcher?
he strikes out the bat boy?
if he wasn't transferred to the 60 day DL?
The phrase is almost as dumb as a "successful surgery". Do you ever hear that a person had an "unsuccessful surgery?" "I'm sorry, Mrs. Lidge. Your husband had unsuccessful surgery and he is now missing his right arm".
Rant over.
