Closers again

Post by rkulaski » Sun May 30, 2010 1:09 pm

As a Qualls owner on 4 of 8 teams, it has been tough to stomach. I hope I'm wrong and AJ Hinch gives Qualls the chance to close in the next save situation but I think today was it. Like backing up your rb in fantasy football, I felt I had to back up Qualls today in every league I own him by bidding on Heilman. Would've done it sooner but J Gutierrez was so awful and then last week Qualls actually saved 3 games.

If you bid on Heilman this week, you might have just found the next closer in waiting. Like I said, hope I'm wrong.

Closers again

Qualls is killing me. I have him on both my better performing Main Event team & my Super as well as a couple other squads.

What kills me the most is that I sat him in my Main Event the week after his last implosion....only to see him pull that three saves in three days jobbie.

Now I slot him back into the lineup and he's back to blowing saves and killing my WHIP & ERA.

He sucks.

qualls might be gone after today's outing. doubt heilman can have any long term success. he's just a retread. sounds like the baltimore situation. musical closer

Glenn Glenn,

I feel your pain.... Like I said, Qualls might be done closing after today's game. I thought he was a nice value this year as far as closers go and it just seemed like he kept falling in every league I was in. Thought he was better than a Nunez or Dotel for sure... obviously not. Not that Qualls was ever an elite closer, but I respected his bb/9 . Maybe his knee isn't quite right and I heard earlier in the season that his velocity is down. I have no idea if there was or still is any truth to that.
