5 NFBC Teams

Post by Money » Mon Jun 07, 2010 3:02 pm

Just so you guys know, I'm a first timer and entered 5 teams. Before this my previous experience was 2 yahoo teams with friends.

So far I have nothing to brag about except one pitching staff on one team. I was wondering if (at this point) anyone has one better.

12 DP League.

Ubaldo

Lincecum

Hughes

Liriano

Strasburg

Sheets

Jackson

Ely

Rivera

Soriano

Rodney (in the wings)

In the same leagueI'm waiting on Vlade to get to 10 games in the OF so I can play both him and Ortiz (23rd round). Team looks very strong.

Super League, I'm in 5th and kind of happy with it. I have Strasburg coming in 4 of the 5 leagues, I hope he gets 120 innings with the numbers that are being thrown around.

Just thought I'd throw this out there instead of just responding to stuff.

Good Luck to all.

That pitching staff is hilariously good! You couldn't have done much better without having a Memorial Day newspaper in mid-March!

You should get some good help w/Vlad w/interleague play resuming this weekend. I expect Vlad to get some extended time in the OF in the NL parks.

My opinion is your dreaming if you think Strasburg gets to 120 IP. Over/under in my book is 90 IP.

Something about Strasburg. I am in 7 leagues (6 local, and the Main Event here). I don't own him in any of them. But man, everyone I know that owns this guy is expecting Lincecum-type numbers right off the bat. His expectations are so high in fantasyland I just kinda doubt he lives up to them this year. I'm not saying he won't be good; I'm just saying my guess is that the prevailing emotion amongst his owners just maybe disappointment, based upon expectations.

I don't have THanson's stats in front of me from last year, but even if he just MATCHES THanson's stats from last year then that would be considered a success.

You've already mentioned you expect (or hope?!) that you can get 120 IP out of him. Again, I highly doubt that just b/c he threw all his innings at SDSU last year....maybe 100-120 total? Couple his minor league innings this year (50ish already?) with what he throws in DC....ah, I'm rambling now...I think you get my point! They're going to watch every PITCH tooth and nail with this guy!

Finally, as the huge Strasburg investor that you are, what are your expecatations numbers wise? I'm just curious.

I'm guessing maybe 7 wins, 88IP, 105K's, 3.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP.

Thanks Joe,

Matt Anderson

Thanks for the feedback. 120 innings is the high end and will only happen if Washington contends until the end of the year.

Tommy Hanson 2009 numbers would be Great. When I drafted I was used to trading leagues (not that I was confused) simply may have over valued him. If these were trading leagues I'd be selling right now to the highest bidder. In 15 team leagues the reward would be nice. I had planned on taking Holliday in the second round but Lincecum fell to me. It will be interesting.

Regardless I'm happy to have him (Strasburg) on board and will watch with great anticipation.

Yay, I can't wait for tomorrow night either. It'll be fun to watch. I'll be flipping between Stras and Stanton's first 3-K major league game. ;)

Stras will be a fine addition to all rosters, especially in the Main Event 15-team format. I have Hellickson waiting in the wings. I'm giving WDavis 1-2 more clunkers until he gets shipped to long relief and the Hellickson Era begins. (I just MAY BE a tad biased on that one!)

I just took a peek @ THanson's numbers from last year....damn, he was quiet-good!

Rauch A lot of nice staffs out there, that's for sure. The Strasburg factor just makes it that much more interesting. I have him as well on multiple teams. A nice ERA and WHIP makes it a little easier to rent a pitcher that throws twice in a week.

Good luck with all of these teams. I wish my hitting was as good as my pitching.......
