I have him everywhere and was really looking forward to his giving several of my pitching staffs a shot in the arm this week.
Of course, his start tomorrow gets called off because of shoulder stiffness.
Erik Bedard & Brandon Webb. I grabbed them on numerous teams looking for ace value at an injury discount. Obviously that strategy is working out just great.
Coco Crisp, Brian Roberts, Ben Sheets, Lance Berkman, Huston Street, Brad Lidge, Alex Gordon....they peppered my draft boards.
Obviously my pre-draft strategy was not injury risk-averse.
I'm thinking next year's strategy may run down a different road.

Oh, and by the way....I picked up Jordan Zimmerman everywhere I could yesterday.
I've obviously not learned my lesson. It's a sickness.

I've had my own problems this year, notably with certain hitters (i won't say who but rhymes with bj SUCKton), but Webb and Bedard were on 0 of my teams this year. Easy call in my opinion and I just couldn't "shoulder" the risk.

Just my opinion, but I'll definitely draft a pitcher returning from tommy john surgery (I picked up E Volquez 2 wks ago for $6 and we'll see if his control is there) but certain types of shoulder surgery (i.e. surgery of the labrum) I'm just not taking the chance unless the value is too good to pass up. In Webb's case, it was about round 18 or so for me.

Glenn Well, I hope you at least had Cliff Lee on the list.
