Mets Decision?

The Mets really have a hard decision to make that will affect Fantasy owners after the ASB.

How can they sit Pagan? He has been a fantasy monster.

Frenchy absolutely limits runs against. Very few third base coaches challenge him first to third or at the plate.

Bay, has been a disappointment, but his contract ensures him a starting spot in the line up.

Ugh- no matter the choice some fantasy owners are going to be unhappy.

Pagan at 2b would be my decision. If he can competently play center he can play second.

AB's will be lost by Pagan and Francour.

I get a kick out of the tunnel vision of most 'baseball people'. These players progress through high school, college, and the lower minors playing more than one position, but at the height of their physical attributes, in most cases, only utility players can roam positions.

Keith Hernandez theorized that Francoeur becomes the 4th outfielder, but with more playing time then most 4th outfielders. He would spell Beltran and Bay once a week, Pagan twice.

Sounds plausible.
I think the Mets are excited about the way Tejada has been playing. So excited in fact, Jerry has promised the position back to Castillo when he returns from the DL.

Don't be so sure that Beltran stays healthy for long.

Ugh- no matter the choice some fantasy owners are going to be unhappy. Most indications are that Pagen goes to the bench, at least at the beginning.

Here is some out of the box thinking: Beltran to right, Francoeur to the bench!

From all that I have read, Beltran will sit a couple times a week, Bay once with Francoeur being OF4, but with more games than a typical OF4.

In a 7 game week with 21 OF starts, the breakdown should be

Bay 6

Beltran 5

Pagan 5/6

Francoeur 4/5

In a 6 game week with 18 starts, something like...

Bay 5

Beltran 5

Pagan 4/5

Francoeur 3/4
Boy does that suck for owners of all four of those players. Seems somewhat sensible on NYM's part.

There are about 850 plate appearances (not at bats) to be divided amongst the 4. Barring injuries, something like...

Bay 243

Beltran 228

Pagan 212

Francoeur 167

Apparently, Francoeur is now a platoon guy facing LHP
