Thursday Chat Has Begun

Post by Tom Kessenich » Thu Mar 03, 2005 6:57 am

All right, we're nearing the end of another productive work week. Greg's on his way out west for the annual LABR draft and we're down to our last 20 spots in the NFBC. The goal is full leagues in each city so check out the Roll Call thread and see how close we are. Right now let's have ourselves another chat. As always, the floor is yours so whatever is on your mind this is the place to chat.

Good morning Tom...

Sorry for the repeat...but were we able to get an easier-to-print version of the position eligability list by e-mailing you directly?

Who produces more this year in your opinion...Larry Walker/Ken Griffey Jr./Frank Thomas?

Thanks,

~Lance

Lance, I won't be able to provide anything other than what we would print off on the Web site. But as part of the goodie bag you will receive our second issue which has the players ranked by league. If there are any players you have questions about, you can e-mail me directly or post the question in the Master Eligibility List thread and we'll make sure to get those players added to the overall list.

As far as the injury-prone players you list I'd probably go with Walker since I think he'll be hurt less often than the other two.

Tom, This year the NFBC took a great leap forward by expanding from 195 to 300 teams (we'll get there in a week or so) - not to mention the huge increase in the auctions. What will next year's goal be, 450 teams?

Tom - where will last years winner be drafting this year? And what is his screen name on these boards?

Who is going to be the most improved player from last year? Pitcher and Hitter? (not counting seasons lost to injury)

I'm going to go with Kevin Millwood & Jeff Bagwell

We'll get together after the drafts as a group and map our strategy for 2006. But if we do add a fourth city I think we can move beyond 300 teams. We'll see.

Hey Tom, are you in charge of the office now since Greg is out? Or (you can level with us) have you always been in charge?

Yes I'm in charge of the office while Greg is away. But Greg is always the one in charge and he always does a terrific job of being in charge.

GG - as one of the few guys that (literally) bet on you to win in football, I'm sure you'll be competitive in baseball. Are you in main event plus an auction or two?

Also - how important do YOU think draft position is in baseball?

I don't think draft position is extremely important. As was my position with football I believe the key issue isn't where you draft, but rather who you draft.

Agreed - having said that if YOU had your pick of positions, what would you prefer? I'm thinking #4 or #5 or the back of the draft would be my preference. Top couple and middle seem to not fit in with what I want to do. How about yourself?

All good - you keep this board from getting bored.

There's nobody who signed up for these events who doesn't have a chance to be prepared and be competitive, etc. Just the simple truth that many won't. Wanted to know how much time you were putting into it and all. I'll re-up our bet from last year football if you want. Overall winner covers? Might as well have two teams to root for.

[/QUOTE]You've seen an NFBC_scoring style sample draft for 2005? I would be careful about assuming too much accuracy for those...
