Ramblings

I know a lot of you folks play fantasy football. So do I. I cut my teeth in fantasy sports on fantasy football.

With a short season, every game in football means something. It is a more dynamic game to watch.

This all said, to me, fantasy football loses more pizzaz with each passing year. Ever changing players, disastrous injury, running back by committees, 3 wides, 4 wides, wildcats, third down backs...just a partial list of what makes fantasy football less of a game and more of a lotto ticket.

When first playing fantasy football in the eighties, I enjoyed fantasy more than the game of football itself. Now, fantasy football is checkers to fantasy baseball's chess. It is Chutes and Ladders to Fantasy baseball's Monopoly.

Fantasy football is 'Snake' to fantasy baseball's 'Gekko'.

Really, I don't write this to put down fantasy football. It is just not the game it once was to me, and luck has become the main factor in a winning fantasy season. When luck becomes the main factor of any game, I lose interest.

At one time, fantasy football was all I could think about. But, the game on the field has changed too much. Making fantasy football a lot less interesting, while football itself, still flourishes.

I still play fantasy football in a local league and may enter a NFFC Satelite just to have a stake in something besides the game.

I went to Borders to pick up a Magazine.

With my new rule of never buying a magazine that has the word 'expert' on the front or back cover, I was reduced to choosing between few magazines. Fantasy sports has more 'experts' than any other industry in the world apparently. Some day I'll find out where to get my own 'expert' badge. Everyone writing for a magazine seems to have one.

I heard K-Rod's marriage may be in trouble after beating up his wife's father. If true, I am so hoping that he dates either Omar Minaya or Jerry Manuel's daughter next.

It looks like Austin Jackson and Denard Span have converted to Judyism.

His agent says he could care less what his fans think. His GM bad mouths him to the press. His Manager bats him in the worst places. His coaches say he doesn't give maximum effort.

It would not surprise me in the least, to see Matt Kemp traded this off season.

My grandson thinks Pablo Sandoval looks more like a toasted marshmallow than a panda. Agreed.

Assuming Strasburg does not go under the knife, his adp, along with Jose Bautista's, should be the most interesting to watch next year.

At least Strasburg's ouchie was on the mound and (k)not tying his shoes. Velcro shoes will be written into Ricky Nolasco's next contract.

Finally, after Matt Kemp was accused of not giving his all by coaches, a list of baseball players that get by more on talent than hustle is in order...

Or,

'The Cruisers' List

1. Milton Bradley

2. Hanley Ramirez

3. BJ Upton

4. Matt Kemp

5. JD Drew

6. Pat Burrell

7. Lastings Milledge

8. Chone Figgins

9. Manny Ramirez

10. Aubrey Huff
