NFBC Message Boards

All, I've enjoyed the banter that goes on here.

There comes a time where we all move on to something else. Fantasy Baseball was for me a great outlet from the day to day grind. But at some point fantasy baseball became part of the grind. It started last year but I marked it up to moving and outside distractions. But early on this year I knew I just was burned out with it.

I had Direct TV baseball and didn't watch one game there. Hopefully I'll get recharged down the road. I'm still a sports fan though. So theres hope. Greg and Tom thanks! Its been a blast!

Whenever any hobby becomes more of a grind than fun it's time to leave John. Golf gets that way for some of us and we leave that sport for a bit. We don't go on message boards to announce that we're quitting golf, but the daily grind forces us away from the game.



I've never understood why people announce they are leaving the NFBC or NFFC, but to each his own. We have had an 80 percent retention rate in the NFBC through the years, which means we'll love 80-90 main event participants every year. Heck, maybe next year it's more if we sucked the fun out of fantasy baseball for some folks. But I sure hope everyone doesn't come on the boards to say goodbye.



John, you'll be a customer I will always remember. I've never had a personal problem with you and you've had your good teams and your not so good teams. But you always were courteous with me in person and when you needed help with your lineup or teams. I have nothing but good things to say about you through seven years of baseball and even some football, even though you made my life interesting on the message boards. I understand why you hated STATS, MDC and now Fanball, but I did everything I could to make the sites work and the game enjoyable for you.



Thanks for the compliment and Tom and I will never forget you. The door is open if those long winter months lead you back to the NFBC. Say what you want about the site, but we should have things in place with a few more tweaks this off-season to provide the best back-end software in the high-stakes industry. We own this and it's up to us to improve it the way everyone wants. I feel very good about 2011.



We anticipate losing some customers, but as we found out in football there are a lot of new customers who want this experience. I'll miss ya John, but I have a feeling we'll hook up down the road in some way. Good luck to you and stay healthy. I don't want baseball to ever be a grind for you again and if we made it that way then that is a shame. Stay well.

As a guy who is 95% sure he will not be back I hope you afford me the courtesy of a good bye post



In my case it would easy to kick the nfbc/fanball for what I believe has been a sub par product this year. In my heart though it is not it at least very much.



I think the biggest mistake I made was just balls out prep from October to March. I just got burned out.



How bout this if I play fantasy baseball in 2011 it will be here but doubt I do. I always wondered how a diehard like a DYV could step away for a year now I know.



The one thing that never changes though is there are some really, really good people that play in and run this contest.

EVERYONE is burned out at this point. it's a loooooooooooong season, esp if you start prepping in november. i love this game a lot, however, you have to give everything you have to compete with some of these guys (Jupinka, etc...). they don't take a night off and neither can you.



finish the season strong. take a break, recharge the batteries and then hit baseball prep hard.

Trust me I want to be passionate about it again. Draft day is like Christmas to me when I was a kid. Knowing I am just not feeling it right now. I have been totally checked out in it for about 2 months now. I hope it comes back. The only positive thing is I can actually enjoy watching a baseball game for the game again.

No way Chesty! Clum and I will be by your place to pick you up in March, even if we have to drag you out by your hair!

I agree with Mark that everyone is burned out at this point. I just saw RT in St. Louis last week and we had a nice heart to heart talk about the season. It's been draining for all of us. The baseball gods made it tougher on some of you and I made it tougher on some of you. For some, that's enough to give the game up. I understand that, but it's also a looooooooooong winter ahead and the thought of baseball in January and February seems refreshing. But only time will tell.



You MUST come to Las Vegas in some form because I owe you a dinner for your kind gesture to my daughter. You organized that and I GREATLY appreciate it. School starts here next Wednesday and I'm happy to report that she started walking two weeks ago and will walk into school on her own. You guys helped with that recovery.



Good luck and thanks for all your support in the past. I sure hope we hook up in March in some capacity in Las Vegas. A lot of folks would miss you if you don't attend, but in some cases maybe it makes sense to take time off. Good luck.

Kent, John, if you still feel the same in March as you feel today, I want to wish both of you the best in your season off. Hopefully you'll be back. Neither the competition or the boards will be the same without you.



My gut however says that burnout is temporary and a long offseason has a way of recharging batteries.
