Tom is out of the office today and I'm working to finalize everything with the National Fantasy Baseball Championship and the Fantasy Sports Trade Conference. I'm here to answer any event questions and LABR questions if you have them. Fire away.

If the value is there, do you see anything wrong with drafting 3 players from the same team with your first 3 picks?



ie. Arod/Jeter/Matsui

Not at all. I know Rick Wolf picked A-Rod, Jeter, Mussina and Rivera on Friday during the AL Auction and added Tom Gordon and at least one other Yankee later on. Especially on good teams, I wouldn't mind loading up on good players if the value is there.

If no volunteers it pretty much has to be the last person to sign up doesn't it?

Yes, except several guys signed up way early for the $650 and now don't want to be left out of a league and I understand that. We'll work it out, it's just going to take another day or so to do it. I understand the desire to see which league you're in, but getting it right is more important to me right now. And filling up that $650 NL Auction League is next on the important list.

When Tom gets back in the office tomorrow, we'll pick the two AL Auction Leagues in Las Vegas and hopefully before Friday we'll get the two NL Auction Leagues resolved. We have a few more potential signups for the Mixed Auction League in Las Vegas, so it definitely looks like we'll have at least six auction leagues going in Las Vegas next week. Sweet! Now we have to fill up that $650 NL and we'll close the books out there.



I just got a sixth signup for the NL Auction League in Chicago and we have five in New York. I'll push hard to fill each of those or try to do a teleconference between those two cities if the participants agree to it. We still should have a strong week of signups yet, so I won't finalize anything until next Monday. Keep 'em coming folks.

I would have to agree with the $650 guys point of view, you make travel plans and sign up early you should be given priority. It's always been understood in all the events last in first out. All the more reason to sign up early. Hopefully you can make it a moot point.

I don't have it in front of me, but do I remember you getting BGiles for the mid 20's? Seems like a nice buy for someone that should put up good numbers, and, might get traded to a contenter mid-season if SD slips.



Will this be the first year that his brother Marcus goes before him in most of the drafts?

Hojin I think we're in good shape for Friday, but let me check with Tom. I'd love to get you working there, let you catch the auction fever and then see you sign up for the NFBC and NFFC auctions next year!

Will this be the first year that his brother Marcus goes before him in most of the drafts? Yes, Marcus will go well ahead of him in most drafts. Marcus went for $28 in LABR and I got Brian for $23. Honestly, my strategy going into the draft was to get Beltran for $42 and add a $23 power hitter. I didn't get Beltran -- he went for $44 -- and was surprised that the bidding for Giles stopped at $23. I didn't target him, I was just price pushing. I actually wanted Pat Burrell for $23, who was brought up later and sold for $23. I did get Carlos Delgado for $26, so hopefully he will be the power-hitter I got to go with Bobby Abreu at $39.

Greg - here is a 3 part question for you:



1- Are you holding out on us or has the list of new members really dwindled to a slow trickle?



2- In your opinion, who will get the fewest ab's in Colarado between Mohr, Hawpe and Holiday; and are any of them likely going to get 500+ ab's?



3- Will Juan Rivera likely get 350+ at bats for the Angles this season?

What does anyone think the best number of keepers is in an NL only auction league? The local league I'm in allows 15. Not everyone keeps that many but it causes some inflated prices for the players we bid on. And, it encourages unfair trading late in the season.

Greg, I probably missed a whole string on this topic, but what will be the deal with RFK? I have read that it will configured as a hitters park in some places and in others that it will be configured to slightly disadvantage hitters (runs, average, power, both RH and LH). What have the experts (Sorry, GG, not this time!) you talk with been saying?

Greg, it seems every year people get overly excited about rookies and 'see' HoF in them for 2005. Are there any rookies that you can see for this year that seem ready to explode onto the scene or will it be a normal inconsistent growing-type year for most?

Coops, the method for keeps I preferred in my local leagues was to have a graduated scale. For example, in a 13 team NL only auction league, 1st would get to keep 3, 2nd would keep 4, and so on until 7th place which could keep 8, then the graduation would go back down (8th would keep 7, and so on until last would keep 3). I know it sounds cruel, but it did two things:



1) No team could dominate for years because of one lucky auction (i.e. Pujols for a $1 in his rookie year).

2) It keeps teams, even at the bottom, more interested (i.e. each place up on the board is another player that can be saved) and avoids the attempted "fire sales".

I was in one that had 8 and the majority of the owners recently voted to go down to 5. They felt that 8 gave an unfair advantage to the better teams. I thought 8 was perfect. 15 sounds far too high.

Pete 1. I'm not holding out. Those last 11 open spots are killing me. I have four on the hook right now and all four wanted to call me back. I'm on the phone right now with another potential signup, who said he will call back tonight. It's an interesting finish, for sure. Last year we had 45 signups during the last week, so this week is kind of surprising thus far.



2. I'd gamble on Mohr of those three. Just my opinion. No, none of them will get 500 ABs.



3. I saw him hit a home run on Saturday in Phoenix into a 30+ mph wind WAY out of the park. He looks pretty good, but getting enough ABs is tough. Maybe he will DH while Casey Kotchman goes back to the minors.

I joined a 20 yr old league last year. What they let you do is keep from 0-7 keepers. Anyone at $11+ keeps that $ value from last year. Anyone under $10 must be kept at $10.



I have to keep Uribe for $10, not $3.



Also, there is a 2 yr max you can keep any player and no one you trade for can be kept.
