Ed Kranepool To Speak In New York

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Mar 09, 2005 5:34 am

We're glad to announce that Ed Kranepool, an 18-year major league veteran who spent all of his career with the New York Mets, will be the featured guest speaker at the NFBC's Welcome Reception in New York on Saturday, March 19th. Ed will begin speaking at the New York Hilton at 11:30 a.m. and take questions from the crowd until around 12:15 a.m. The Welcome Reception will include coffee, donuts and juice beforehand as participants can come early to see the draft room, meet their league mates and listen to Ed Kranepool speak.

Ed was signed as an amateur free agent in 1962 and his 18 seasons with the Mets are the longest of any Met player. He made the All-Star team in 1965 when he hit .253 with 10 home runs and 53 RBIs. He played in two World Series with the Mets, earning a world title with the 1969 New York Mets. He finished his career with a .261 lifetime average, 1,418 hits, 118 home runs and 614 RBIs. He hit a career-high 16 home runs for the Mets in 1966 and hit a career-best .323 in 1975, before retiring after the 1979 season.

Come early to the New York draft and enjoy the Welcome Reception. It's a great way to kick off Draft Day!
