Who Will Win The Double Play Grand Prize?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Sep 23, 2010 5:11 am

I don't want to jinx anyone, but kudos to Jaime Baird for an outstanding 2010 NFBC season. Jaime is competing in four Online Championship leagues and the NFBC Classic and he has two of his Online teams in the Top 10 overall. Jaime is currently leading the NFBC Live Double Play and that team is also tops among the 828 teams in the online overall competition. That means that Jaime could win $85,000 if all things hold to form. Good luck Jaime. He also has a team that is 9th overall in the Online Championship, so good luck there as well.

It's been a very interesting season in our new 12-team format and in many ways I like the double way you can win in this format. We'll look this over again next year, but we'll definitely have a 12-team competition in place again in 2011.

I have some draft spot data I'll post next for the NFBC Online Championship, but just so you know 6 of the top 20 teams drafted Live and 14 drafted online. That's pretty close to the number of teams in both competitions as we had 540 teams drafting online (65% of 828 total teams) and 70% are in the Top 20.

Good luck all the rest of the way.

So where did the Top 20 teams in the NFBC Online Championship draft from? It's interesting to note that the Top 20 teams drafted from all different areas of the draft. Eleven of the 12 spots are represented, with only No. 9 not being in the Top 20. No. 11, surprisingly, led the way with four in the Top 16, including three teams in the Top 6.

Here's a look at where the Top 20 teams as of today in the NFBC Online Championship (Live & Online) drafted:

No. 1 - 2 teams

No. 2 - 1 team

No. 3 - 3 teams

No. 4 - 1 team

No. 5 - 2 teams

No. 6 - 1 team

No. 7 - 1 team

No. 8 - 2 teams

No. 9 - 0 teams

No. 10 - 1 team

No. 11 - 4 teams

No. 12 - 2 teams

Nos. 1-3 - 6 teams

Nos. 4-6 - 4 teams

Nos. 7-9 - 3 teams

Nos. 10-12 - 7 teams

Interesting, huh?

Just a heads up that we are paying prizes to the Top 5 teams in the Combined Standings race. This was an incentive to those owners who excelled in the 15-team format and the 12-team format. We wanted to find out who the best owners were in that format and compensate the Top 5 owners. First place is $5,000 and second place is $2,000.

Mark Srebro currently leads the Combined Standings, but it's been a close, tough race all year long. Here's the Top 10 teams as of today:

1. Mark Srebro 6,856.8

Guess Who? NY Classic New York Weekend 2 - League 4 3,658.0

Guess Who? 12 AC Live Double Play - Atlantic City March 20 7 pm 3,198.8

I might have jinxed Gekko with this thread as well last night. Congrats to Kenny and Chip Magner as they now lead the Combined Standings. Amazingly, Kenny is fighting for the NFBC Online Championship as he's third overall, but he's not even guaranteed of winning his league title as Ryan Atkins is right there and fifth overall. The two drafted in Las Vegas in the March 26th 5 pm Live Double Play. Good luck to both of you in that tight league race, the tight overall race and the Combined Standings.

Here's the Top 5 through last night:

I do believe Jaime has an insurmountable lead at this point. Great team and great season, sir, it's been fun trying to run you down.
