I agree that the inaugural class has to be special, likely has to be limited to the very special few who have excelled over seven years of the best competition in the industry. And I even think it has to include players who we all think will continue to excel in the future. After all, this is a unique Hall of Fame that inducts players during their prime playing years, not at the end of their careers. So these owners must be worthy of the honor today and in future years when folks compete against them.
The criteria I put on the Hall of Fame page included:
* Excellence through time in the NFBC main event.
* Consistency through time in the NFBC main event.
* Winning titles in the NFBC.
* Winning prize money in the NFBC.
* Excellence in several NFBC formats; consistency in multiple formats.
We have a complete history of performances from every player in every year in every contest, so we should be able to evaluate owners with their stats rather easily. The process I'd like to use is to narrow the list down to a select few with input from all NFBC players and then list those accomplishments and make a final decision. The process with include input from the players, Fanball members and of course Tom and myself.
We're not going to make this an overly political process and hopefully the data is so overwhelming that folks won't disagree with the decision. But at the end, I believe the selections should come from the NFBC: mainly Tom, myself and Fanball. It can get too political any other way, but all feedback will be taken into consideration.
My goal is to honor the Hall of Fame members on Draft Day in the various cities, award plaques to those honorees and to create an online Hall of Fame that folks can tour and see the accomplishments and history of the NFBC. We'll add to this list each year if selections warrant it, but there's not a guarantee that we'll add people each year. The honor has to be earned on the playing field. Some years we may have multiple additions and in other years we may not have any additions. The players will make those decisions for us.
So with all of that laid out, who is deserving of being inducted in the inaugural class? You tell us. Let the fun begin and I have a feeling this won't be very hard.
