The Hall

Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven will receive their accolades, as they should. But, the story this year is behind the two electees.

This years vote for the Hall of Fame just may be a peak at 2013's class with Bonds, Clemens, and Sosa.

Roberto Alomar received 94% of the vote this year. Meaning to me, that 20% of Hall voters thought that Alomar should be punished and not be a first ballot Hall of Famer for spitting on an umpire. An everyday act during the Cobb era.

Rafael Palmeiro with certain Hall of Fame numbers only received 22 per cent of the vote.

The voters have seen the players play. They are being judged not only by their play but their deportment. This does not bode well for the 'steroid trio' in '13.

There is no more sure Hall of Famer than Barry Bonds. Some think he may have been the best player ever. Some of his numbers may never be equalled.

But, todays vote tells me, at the least, that he will not be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Also, what if Pete Rose were eligible for the Hall of Fame?

With the mindset of voters, it would be a longshot for Rose to make the Hall.

Ironic, that in their own ways, the leading home run hitter of all time and leading hit maker of all time are barred from the Hall of Fame.

No matter the opinion of both players, it is not a good thing for baseball.
