Some of you folks have heard the rumors already that Liberty Media, the owner of Fanball is shutting down Fanball.

This sounds like just horrible news, to be sure.

For me, it isn't bad news at all. Hopefully, the NFBC/NFFC stays in Greg's hands and he can find a partner who truly cares about the contest.

Fanball and Ryan Houston, in all honesty, never gave a rats ass as to the welfare of the NFBC itself.

I won't panic. In the end, I know that this loyal base of customers will follow Greg and Tom and give the middle finger to Ryan.

It looks like we have what Walla Walla has longed for, a piece of the past.

Bad timing if true. Hopefully, we can get some more info quickly.

Greg, I posted the same question in the other thread. Do you know how this impacts the 2011 NFBC? Or are you in the dark as well?

The NFBC brand was tarnished last year under Fanball's watch, but it's Heart and Soul are intact and I have no doubt they can/will survive this news if true.
Agreed. I have no doubt that Greg and Tom will provide everyone with the relevant info as soon as they are able to.

Wow, brutal news this close to the season. I imagine Greg is trying to figure out a lot of stuff himself. Sure hope NFBC can go forward and Greg can be involved.

Looks like our little hobby is hitting some choppy waters. I have no doubt all will work out for the best. We probably just need a little time

I hope this is nothing more than a rumor for Greg and Tom's sake. Many, many, many hours of sweating blood on their part. Best of luck to both of them and the contest continuing is some format or another. - Pete
The QNFBC has a nice ring to it. But you'd have to say it like Howard Stern giving the radio station's call letters in Private Parts.

I would caution everybody who considers Tom and Greg's friend that they are in a tough spot here. Not a joking matter by any means. Yes- I think they will be fine and I think a lot of people here will work hard to support them being fine. Just because you have options does not mean this is not a nice kick in the nuts. There also somewhere around 40 people at fanball who now will probably be out of work. 39 of which I feel very bad for....

It is sad.

I've heard from enough folks that I respect, to know that this is no longer a rumor.

I would also think that Greg, Tom, and the powers that be/were cannot speak to the events happening around them.

It'll be in the hands of lawyers (I would do a lawyer joke here, if a few weren't friends).

The only thing we can do is to wait it out and hope for the best for the NFBC and especially for Greg, Tom, Geoff, and their families.

Greg is like a cat, always landing on his feet.

We have a lot of respect and admiration for Greg.

I know it wouldn't surprise any of us if within a couple of weeks, he is letting us know that his family, and the contest that is his passion, are doing well and fine.

Bad news for sure but no real surprise based on what Fanball has done in the past. I feel bad for the folks that really did try to make this work. I sure hope that Greg, Tom and Geoff can come out of this successfully. Good luck guys.

Though I am not sure I would want to be the one guarding Greg this week during his lunchtime pickup hoops game.

I know this may not be the appropriate time or place, but this potentially leaves many of us without a fantasy sports home.

What do we know about WCOFB? Are they a worthy alternative if things go south on the NFBC? Can someone speak for their reliability?

Don't get me wrong, Greg and Tom will get my business if at all possible, but it seems we should all be lining up Plan B.

Iola Wisconsin is not exactly a hot bed of economic activity. These gentleman need to work and they need to know a loyal customer base will follow them.
No doubt. And count me as one of the one's that will follow them. But a simple glance at the calendar makes a new 2011 baseball venture highly unlikely.

I can't bare to think of a baseball season without fantasy baseball.

My basbeall co-manager and I did the wcoff this year because we were too late to get in here for football. ummm after about week 2 we had had our fill. the format and website blew. the FA searching sucked among other things... it was the furthest thing from fun.

last years baseball website blew it away.. and we all hated it. there is no way ill go back there. even if someone states that their baseball format is better.. no way jose.

count me in for anything that T & K put together.

Now help me figure out what I'm going to do without the CDM challenge games. Diamond Challenge and points baseball have been a staple in my fantasy world since the mid-90's. :(
