Dan, KJ, anyone have a good site to go to for NFBC posters just in case it's needed for short term?

Good thread, John.

I haven't thought that far ahead.

I don't want to lose contact with anybody that is used to sending me PM's and such.

If these Boards do close down soon, I can be contacted at [email protected]

I have the addresses of everyone in the e-mail drafts, but would like to have yours and others.

As far as other Boards, I have had a lot of requests to join other boards (everybody likes a big mouth, I guess), but have never felt the need. I like it here.

Really, where else can we find characters like we have?

Priceless stuff right here in River City.

I guess I'll cross that bridge, if we have to approach it.

What are the favorite Boards out there for NFBC'ers besides ours?

Pipe up! :D

I suspect there will be ample warning if these boards are taken down or transferred, since fanball will be operating thru June.

KJ: I wouldn't be so sure. The Diamond Challenge board just bit the dust and there was no warning. Of course, we do have Greg over here to heed a warning I guess.

It would make sense to have an agreed upon meeting place should this get shut down without notice. Especially for those of us that want to follow Greg and Tom if there is a next venture.

Are the message Boards subscription-free at Mastersball, Todd?

I wouldnt be so sure either, it looks like they are currently working on shutting stuff down that is not currently in season, ie hoops, football playoff games, etc. The baseball games at Fanball had their message board shut down a bit ago game by game. They are actively working on it right now it appears.

Mastersball forums are not subscription based. Only their Platinum material requires a paid subscription.

To post, you need to register, which involves confirming via a valid e-mail address.

Which means we now have your e-mail address.

And we do send out newsletters.

But we port over the addresses to a site that handles mailings, and you can opt out of that distribution list without impacting site registration.

And if someone requests, I won't port over the address and you will never hear from us.

I'm all for supporting another NFBC fella.

Mastersball sounds good to me if this site goes down.

Damn, now I'll have to learn numerish.

The message boards there are civil and intelligent.

They could definitely use some more regular voices to ask questions and start dialogue. I actually can't think of a better safety net destination then MB simply because of the people involved over there. Todd, Perry Van Hook, Lawr Michaels, Brian Walton, Rob Leibowitz and the other experts over there are quick to give weigh in on threads which is something you don't see on many other sites.

And even if these boards remain functional - I think this should become a new spot for NFBC'ers to gather in season. So often people are loathe to talk in depth about players in season here. Actually - these boards get down right boring during the season. Why - because the fact remains that once the season starts this is first and foremost a "contest" board.

Mastersball is an information site first and foremost. I sound like a shill for Todd - but I respect how they do things over there and I feel they would understand this crowd better than anyone else out there. I had a special forum there for the league I ran for first timers with Sack and bjoak last year. It is still there. I will rename it simply NFBC. This could be a good place to post anything NFBC related that anyone wants too. Then you can feel free to check out the other areas of the Forum.

Can you imagine this crew trying to take up shop at the HQ boards or on ESPN?

Todd, can you remove the word "ball" in your website name? Its making me twinge.

Seriously though, thanks for being so welcoming. Plenty of other sites haven't said a peep, and its their loss.

Thanks, but put me in the camp that hopes it doesn't come to this.

I think this is the site that would make a great backup for the boards. Todd and the gang have been supporters of the NFBC/NFFC from the first year. It is a free board and the pay site is worth the money if you choose so. Thanks Todd! :D

Thanks Mastersball!

I was a big fan of Creative Sports as well and the merger has made the whole even greater than the sum of the parts. I'm a subscriber and visit the site often for its articles and analysis.
