Friday Night in Chicago

Post by Cooperstown » Fri Mar 11, 2005 9:45 am

Since we're 1 week out, now might be an appropriate time to start this post. There is some interest to head to Maywood Park for a night of trotter betting. 1st race is 7:40. The plan is to meet in the Embassy lobby about 7:00. Maywood Park is about 10-15 minutes from the hotel.

Anyone else interested?

Will you have a car?

Count me in as a yes and yes.

Gordon, this sounds right up your alley. Would it mean missing the Mixed Auction League?

Coops,

I am in. My flight gets in around 3 and I am planning on checking in at my hotel (not staying at the Embassy) then coming down to watch some of the auction. I will be in the lobby a little before 7. A little horseracing, a little booze, a little baseball....all a lot better than checking out what is on HBO or hanging in the hotel bar.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Couldn't agree more. A night away from all these mind-numbing stats is just what the doctor ordered. I'll be checking out the Embassay before 7:00 too. See you there.
