New Idea: KDS, Draft Spot Championship
Tom and I have been throwing around some new ideas to make the NFBC even more enjoyable this year and we thought about a contest within a contest. Since we already allow all of you to select your preferred draft spots using KDS, we thought about a Draft Spot Championship where we would create kind of a side pot for those owners who would like to compete against owners who drafted in the same draft spot.
It would be called KDS: Draft Spot Challenge. Folks could join this side competition if they'd like to pay the extra fee or not compete. No problem either way. If they decide to join, we'd pay out a percentage of prizes to the top finishers at each of the 15 draft spots. This could work for the NFBC Main Event and for the NFBC Online Championship as well (12 spots there). That would also give you another set of overall standings to look at each day and give you something to keep fighting for within the season.
I haven't decided yet what a good price point is for something like this, so I'm seeking input from the customers. For the Main Event, is $100 per person too much? Is $50 too small? For the Online Championship, would it be fun at $50 or more?
I think this would be a fun addition within these national contests and we'd pay back a fair percentage to each group based individually on the number of participants. That would make choosing your KDS for these events even more important.
Give me your thoughts on this idea and we'll see where it takes us. Thanks all.

Greg, its great to see you and Tom are moving full speed ahead and even increasing our options as well as your workload. You really must be certain of a very positive outcome. I could'nt be happier for the two of you as well as the rest of your employee group. Good things do happen to good people!

Love this creative idea. I`d be will to give 50 $ to compete against others with same draft position.

This is a great idea. It would actually be the most fair version of fantasy baseball as drafting a team for the same slot puts people on more equal footing. For example, I drafted from the #12 spot in a slow draft this year. It would be great to compete against other teams that had no access to Pujols, Cabrera, HRam, and the other top guys.
Adding $25 to all satellites as a trial could yield a nice pool. There were 23 $125 Top 3 leagues in 2010 (by my count). This would yield $575 for the extra competition and could be easily paid something like $400 and $175 for each of the 15 draft slots (of course this is an underestimate as some other higher dollar leagues could be included). This would essentially pay the top 10%.

I also think it's a good idea as an option / add on. I think $50 sounds good. I would do it for all 3 of my slow draft teams.

I would pay an extra 50 for this in the Online Championship

No interest. Like the insurance angle from last year, no buzz here for me at all. Wouldn't pay anything extra to be included in this type of offering.

A contest within a contest. Why the hell not? It gives you the ability to compete for the league, overall, and draft spot championships all with the same team. I couldn't see any reason that I would pass up on this side bet.

I would prefer $50 for the satellites and $100 for the main.
There is no downside to the competition. If people don't want in they can opt out. The pot wont be uniform for each draft slot but will be another fund side bet to follow.

Are we doing this? Just wondering before I finalize my KDS for the $1000 SLOW DRAFT Tonight... Don't want to have the same draft position as my other 2 leagues or do I??!!

Yes, I think we'll be able to offer this for the Main Event and Online Championship. I think we'll be able to do this with the Slow Draft Championship as well with 20+ leagues there.
