Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Feb 09, 2011 5:26 am

Okay, we're going to start off the Live Chat season with our favorite star, Mr. Shawn Childs, aka, CC's Desperado's. Shawn has done a Live Chat for us each of the last few years and it's been our highest-rated show of the season!! :D Shawn has agreed to do this next Tuesday at 7 pm ET, but we'll start this thread now so that folks can post some comments or questions in advance. you know Shawn, he will be prepared with answers ahead of time so I'm sure we'll cover a lot of ground in a hurry.

We'll continue to add industry folks once or twice per week through February and March and have some fun with the Message Boards. It's time to get the season rolling and between the Live Chats, Slow Drafts and Satellite Leagues we should be rolling soon. Let's do it.

Thanks Shawn for providing your time to do this and let the questions roll in. Enjoy all.

If I recall correctly while looking at your category targets it seems like you're taking into account a bump in offense for 2011. Do have any underlying fundamentals that support this or is it a gut feel?

What is the weakness in your game?

If none, what would you like to improve upon?

Compared to other finishes in the Main, last year was an off year. Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?

Has the constant writing up of each player and their teams helped you in preparation for this years drafts?

Or taken away time from your usual preparation?

Projections...I have always taken the approach that there are a whole lot of smart people out there that get paid to make projections and that I would be dumb not to use that work. Certainly I have my own biases and make my own adjustments as I see fit but....all in all....I rely a fair amount on projections. Of the various projection sources - do you tend to favor one versus another? Have one that is consistently in line with your own projections?

Preperation.....how has your prep changed over the years? What do you do differently today than say five years ago?

Congrats on all your success and thanks for being so willing to share your thoughts over the years.

How would you construct your roster for a dc league? Whatare the main differences in how you would approach a dc league draft compared to a faab league draft?

Have you ever been a shill for WCOFF/WCOFB? Or NFBC/NFFC?

If yes to the former and/or latter, then are you still currently?

Why bother doing a chat when people ask ridiculous and/or insulting questions?

Most questions are good. There are only some people who think they are funny.

Thought you said you were done after last year?

I don't think any regular reader of these forums will forget the stink bomb you laid on these boards last season. To see you pop your head out and pick right up where you left off is disappointing to say the least.

Hey Shawn - I found your Baseball Mafia post on Chris Sale pretty interesting stuff. Can to elaborate how you are thinking about him and/or Thorton as you head into this year's drafts?

Shawn,

I am in the final round of one 50 round DC Slow Draft and am about to start another. Can you give me a few names near the end of draft of players who may be off of most people's radar screens, but who may make a meaningful contribution before the end of the year?

If yes to the former and/or latter, then are you still currently? Back when the NFBC was at it's darkest hour, I started a thread that belittled Fanball's back end. I called Fanball as stupid as I am. I'm self depracating, so it was not meant to be kind.

In that thread, you insinuated that Shawn was a shill. At first I thought it was a joke. If you ask Shawn a question about the NFBC or any other organization, he'll be happy to answer it. He has always been forthright without cheerleading for a company or cause.

He even answered you back then. He asked your real name and you wouldn't give it to him, preferring to hide behind your Board name and taking the cowardly route.

When others came to defend Shawn, you brushed them off as sheep. I know you haven't met Shawn, if you have, you wouldn't be asking such a stupid question. The folks defending Shawn weren't sheep, just decent folks that have met with Shawn or had contact with him. You should take the time, yourself.

If you had a legitimate concern, wouldn't you be man (or lady) enough to send him an e-mail or pm to discuss your concern?

Knowing Shawn, he will give hours of his time answering these questions for folks, while you try to taint it in a few seconds.

So here we are again, and you ask the same question. Not to get an answer, but to try and discredit one of the NFBC's best.

A shill for the cowardly.

At the time, I think I wrote in that thread that I was in a race with Fanball to Stupidville. You sir, entered that race, and left us both in the dust.

According to Wikipedia, "A shill or plant is a person who helps another person or organization to sell goods or services without disclosing that he or she has a close relationship with the seller."

From my observations over the years, Shawn has never NOT disclosed his relationships with both organizations. He has played in both events, and knows the owners well. He paired with Greg in leagues last spring. I believe the owners of both events are quite familiar with his involvement in both organizations. So the answer is NO, he is not a shill, because everything is disclosed.

But even if he was, who cares? Seriously. WHO CARES. I would love to hear from you how this affects your personal interest. Feel free to explain why this is an important question for you. Thank you.

Rumor has it, that there is a new love in his life. Care to disclose that player Shawn?

Just to save a few guys some time. Don't bother asking what players he likes. That is like asking "what time is it". If he has time on his hands he could show you how to build a clock, if he's in a hurry he will show how to build a watch or he might even point you in the right direction of a good clock store, but he won't tell you which one to buy.... :D
