Is it just me, or is this Michael Young thing just stinking to high heaven? I mean that from a fantasy perspective.

If Young is traded, his value takes a tumble. He loves hitting in Arlington and does it well.

If he is not traded, does he mope around?

Does he get played less?

Will he adjust to dh'ing half the time?

I'm guessing he'll be had a full round later in the next go round of drafting compared to early drafts.

I'm old, so I get 'old school' questions sometimes PM'ed to me...

Somebody asked me what is different about baseball now compared to the 'good old days'.

So I started a list.

Game winning hit, not walkoff

Taking pitches when a pitchers wild, not 'Grip it and rip it'

Bats cracked, not explode or become weapons of ash destruction

Dirt, not batting gloves

Stirups, not streamlined

Sore arm, not Tommy John

Any out, counts, not fielders indifference

Playing for team, not playing for agent

Dad, not agent

Handshake, not cheerleading hand jive

Fastball, not two seam, four seam, cutter

A save, not a five out save

Blocking the plate, not swipe tags

Pitch till you get hit, not pitch till the pitch count is up

Wild, not loss of command

handful of dirt, not sliding gloves

Jumping up and down with joy, not a rehearsed, pre-planned celebration

A catcher firing the ball back at the pitcher, not going out to 'calm him down'

Stadiums with the aroma of cigar smoke in the stands, not the smell of stale beer

Box scores in tomorrows paper, not newspapers going belly up

The Los Angeles Angels, not the....you know

four man rotations, not five man rotations

Long and short relief, not specialists

Belts, not elastic

stuttering after a game, not 'it was a team effort'

Saying, 'I made a good play there, didn't I', not, 'Glory to God for all that happened'

Shaving cream pie in the locker room, not, find a camera

I'm sure some of you can come up with more....

Michael Young is a professional baseball player period. He's a professional hitter, professional fielder at various positions and professional in his approach. He's done everything asked as a team player and is an overall team leader through example. He deserves respect... and a starting spot in someone's infield.

I agree with everything said. As a ball player, I love Michael Young.

For fantasy purposes, I like him a lot less now, then I did at the end of September.
