I have created a local league where our winner represents our league in the NFBC each year. I have a tight group of baseball fans who are not "balling" like some of you on here (obviously not a diss lol). So here is our league set up. I put out the flier and it filled in like 24 hrs.
The league is 15 teams and identical to the NFBC rules. $105 per team covers the NFBC team and gas/ food money.
This is the kicker I added that I am looking for someone to shoot it down and tell me the loopholes....while that owner drafts and manages the NFBC team the following year he only gets 50% winnings. This is stated that u are playing for basically CEO of our leagues team. You draft, you make all the decisions but the rest of the league splits the other half of the winnings if there are any.
You do not split the other 50% evenly. In an attempt to keep the league active the % of remaining pts your team had that past year, you get that % of the remaining (other 50%) winnings.
Everyone that has joined this league is 100% clear of what is going on. I'm looking for someone to point out possible problems before hand?...You will not see our first team til next year though!
Good luck!

What a nice idea! I know that I speak for the entire NFBC when I say we're looking forward to kicking your representative's......... um I mean meeting your representative (just trying to motivate your participation this year
) Seriously, I think it's quite novel. You must be within driving distance of one of the locations because you're not factoring in lodging costs. If it's a long drive you might considering a desert or interstate stipend? Have you considered coughing up an extra 50 and adding a co-partner/co-driver? I think two of you would have more fun and you could reward the top two teams in your league. Just an idea. If everyone agree's on the other 50% division, I think it might serve as a motivational tool, as you say, at the lower end of your standings. On the other hand, it could engender some bitterness. Have you put that aspect to a league wide vote; equal share vs. prorated? Again, it sounds like a very cool idea and I'm sure it's something Greg and Tom would like to bottle if they could.

What a great idea Matt. The NFBC is honored to have your champion each year!!
What a cool story if that person ever won the $100,000 grand prize, thus sharing it 15 ways!! Wow.

Depending who wins there is a good chance more than 2 us will be making the trip to Atlantic City for a weekend we aren't afraid of a good time. I am sure there will be a Co-owner though I left the option up to them. I did not want to force the co manager to travel in case the 2 ppl just didn't feel like going together.
I would definitely keep the % system the way it is for 2 reasons:
1. 2nd place an 15th place splitting evenly would make owners go inactive quicker than usual and stay un interested.
2. 2nd place deserves a bigger slice of the pie than 15th anyways.
This is how the whole thing evolved if your looking for a story.
I am in 2 local live draft h2h leagues and both leagues are always talking about switching over to roto. Last year I went out on my own did some searching for a roto league to play in, found a lot of highway robbery sites where the payout structure is a joke. Found this place and was like Jackpot who doesn't want to compete against the best at anything anyways.
I signed up drafted an online double play team. Got smoked. Last in my league, close to the bottom overall. Thanks guys. Good thing we have one full season to grasp things before sending anyone lol.
Anyways one of my h2h leagues died out this year we were down to 8 solid managers but 3 of them were in the other league too anyways so it was in tough shape. That's when it was the perfect time to present this idea. Sent out the flier on facebook to people from both leagues and made sure ppl understood what they were getting into. It filled fast between teams from both leagues.
The sales pitch was simple. Cash leagues Only the champ makes a signifcant profit compared to the time put in for baseball. Comes out to cents per day sometimes. This kind of puts a "prize" at the end while keeping everyone interested. Not only are last place teams trying to increase their cut, they can still enjoy rooting for the "leagues team" in the NFBC. I am sure the trash talk will be fun when someone bombs out but that is part of it.
Everyone also undserstands the probability of winning any money is much much less while the ceiling is much much higher. As you said 50,000 for one person.
I am not trying to take business from your satellite leagues Greg, just introducing 14 new ppl to your great idea.

Also once I get this cash together can I pre-register a team for next year? I wouldn't be ready to set a draft date/venue til later but it would be a bummer if we missed out after having this league. I see signing up is still available right now but it is something I wouldn't want to risk if we didn't need to.
