As we prepare for our upcoming fantasy drafts, I'd like to pause for a moment to reflect on the passing of Duke Snider this past weekend. The "Duke of Flatbush", as he was known by local Brooklynites, was part of the Golden Era of baseball in the '50's when New York was considered by many to be the baseball capitol of the world. He was often overshadowed by the other members of the "holy trinity" of New York CF's,Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle but maybe should not have been. The Duke actually led all NL batters in HR/RBI totals in the '50's! He also led Brooklyn to their only WS win in '55 with 4 HRr/7 RBI with his sweet, classic lefty swing. I was lucky enough to have seen play when I was a kid and will miss him. Any other thoughts or memories?
