Our Last Chat Before The Event
Greg and I will both be leaving for Vegas tomorrow so this will be our last official chat prior to the NFBC officially launching its second season starting on Friday. This weekend was terrific in terms of getting to our 300-team limit and adding more folks to the auction leagues as well. So if you have some questions step up to the plate and fire away.

It would be nice to know our competition prior to the mixed auction on Friday - any chance you could split up the 28 into 2 leagues and then pick the last two spots when they come in? Since the final two remaining teams have a 50/50 shot at landing in either league, there would be no advantage to eithor of them.

We're working on filling up those mixed leagues. We definitely plan to announce the order well before Friday.

We'll work with people as best we can but we need everyone to make sure they get there -- if it means leaving a little early then that's an option. But hopefully the weather won't be an issue.

I am not taking 1 or 2 people Tom, I am taking a high percenatge of people missing when the draft is ready to begin.

I don't know what to tell you other than getting to the draft is not our responsibility. It's up to each owner to make sure they are there and they arrive on time. Should something occur we will work with folks as best we can.

We did work with some folks who were in Florida for our football draft and I'm sure everyone here remembers what that state was going through in August. Like I said, we'll work with everyone but priority No. 1 for everyone has to be making sure they get to the auctions and drafts on time.

Sorry to get overly creative and all... but if I got stuck in the wrong airport on the way travelling to Vegas I'd just grab as private a place I could with a phone and my cheatsheets and have at it.

How does the auction work? Is it everyone just yells out a price or does it go around the room and when it reaches you, you declare in the bidding or out of the bidding.?
Also by teleconference i assume that means by tv. Is it one big tv showing the entire room on tyhe other side?

Also by teleconference i assume that means by tv. Is it one big tv showing the entire room on tyhe other side? No TV, sorry. We'll have one facilitator in each city on a headset communicating the bids and which owners are making the bids so you guys will hear them as they are being made, even if they are being made by owners in the other city.

I'm prepared for the draft but not really the trip. Where can I find the schedule for Friday and where do I go once I get to the Rio. Seems like there's always a big line to talk to a desk clerk or someone. Is there some designated area I should be looking for?
Also, is there a number to call if we have to reach you guys (the administrators) in case of an emergency?

The schedule for both days can be found on the main NFBC Web site under each city. So just click on Vegas and you'll find all the info you need.
Also, is there a number to call if we have to reach you guys (the administrators) in case of an emergency? In Vegas you can reach Greg at 702 239-9449

bjoak, from the main entrance at the Rio, go straight to the back of the casino, look left and you should see the 'convention center' signs .... you'll go down 2-3 long hall ways (past a restaurant) ... it'll almost look like you're lost, but surely you'll see others with their laptops, notebooks, and such in tow.
