Duke Sims To Speak At LV Welcome Reception

Even though I announced our speakers for New York and Chicago last week, I hadn't given up on Las Vegas during that time. To be honest with you, I was working with the MLB Alumni Association to secure a top guest speaker and it was IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to Las Vegas for that week. Well, not just anyone, but someone of top caliber.



But the party must go on.....or was that the show must go on? Our Welcome Reception will begin at 5 p.m. in Brasilia 6 and 7 of the Rio Hotel & Casino on Friday, March 18th and we'll have drinks sponsored by MVP Sportsbook.com for all NFBC competitors. Along with drinks and giveaways, we'll have a Q&A session with Duke Sims, former catcher of the Cleveland Indians. Duke was an 11-year major league catcher who played with the Indians, Dodgers, Tigers, Yankees and Rangers from 1964-74. He hit 100 home runs and drove in 310 runs during his career, with his best season being in 1970 when he hit .264 with 23 home runs and 56 RBIs. We'll have some fun with Duke in Las Vegas and have a hearty Q&A about today's game and today's players.
