Interesting draft. SP started Rd 3 pick 1 and lasted all the through the end of round 6. By the time I took Carpenter as my SP2 all that was left from my rankings was him or Marcum. Then SP completely STOPPED being taken after that and I felt offensive players were going too soon. Through me off my game plan a little bit and I missed some guys I had targeted because I didn't want to reach for them and just missed them coming back. In hindsight I should have reached.

For example, in the 9th round I had the choice of A Jones with R Davis still on the board. Davis was a guy I had targeted, but not in the 9th round. He went 2 or 3 picks before my pick in the 10th. Same thing with a guy like E Aybar in the 12th round. Thought he'd last longer.

Missing out on the both those players puts me short on speed and my BA won't be anything to write home about, but my other counting stats should be solid. Reaching for Davis instead of taking Jones first would have made this team more complete.

Thoughts?

Hey now Mike thx 4 posting, was this a $125 sat?

You mentioned the SP run, but it appears having taken 3 SP's w/ your 1st 8 pks that you stayed ahead of it (Weav/Carp/Demp) not too shabby.

If Mark Reynolds struck out alot in a league where he'd seen the pitchers many times, how do you think he'll fare in a brand new league? I know Camden Yards is a hitters park, but it's not like AZ was Candlestick. B/w him & Dunn, AVE is gonna be an adventure for ya :D

I thought you did pretty well w/ closers, considering you waited til rd's 15-17 to get'em. Some decent end rd gambles in Downs, MGonz & Wood too.

It does look like a weird draft, AJack & Walker seem early to me, whereas Bay seems late and Berkman is a steal in 20th if he could just stay healthy....big if, I know

By the way, if Erik Aybar is being drafted in rd 12, let him go! there's bound to be somebody better available.
Always be closing.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah this was a 125 satellite. Have a few more coming up, hopefully they're a little more status quo.

I had no intentions of taking 3 SP in the first 8 rounds, I just didn't like the value of the hitters that were left. After that run of SPs ending at round 6 hardly any got taken for 4 or 5 rounds. So by the time it got back to me again I felt that Dempster was the best value at that point.

I know BA will be low. Was willing to ignore BA to focus on counting stats. Took Reynolds slightly earlier than I wanted to and Walker wasn't even on my radar, but they were both the last at their position before MAJOR drop offs and I didn't want to be left scrambling more than I already felt lol.

My one regret is taking Jones over Davis. I would feel much better trading the 20 hrs for the extra 40 sbs.

Hopefully I can have a few big seasons and compete. Thanks for the feedback.
