Thoughts about Las Vegas-

First, a big shout out to Greg. I know, I know, he already gets so much appreciation from us, but as we were drafting, I saw him observing, and just had to go over and tell him how proud he should be of 'his baby'.

Our facillatator was top notch. He handled both the calling of names and stickers and we never waited. I'll take him for a draft any time, anywhere.

I love drafting with Shawn Childs. of course, the flip side of that, is that he is in my league. I know how hard Shawn has worked during the off season and can only root for the guy....which is similar to rooting for Microsoft to flourish as a company.

Last year I was enamored with the way Russel (Navel Lint) would call out his draft picks in Chicago. He was so authoritive, even while calling Kyle Farnsworth name, you'd have thought that the other 14 drafters had missed out on the top 30 players.

This year, Ken Norred floored me. I know how good Ken is as a fantasy player. Top notch.

But, in a southern drawl he would say, "How about Felix Hernandez?" Almost asking the facillatator if that was ok.

KJ Duke and I amuse each other to no end. Without Baseball or fantasy Baseball, we would have absolutely nothing in common.

He is a master of anything electronic.

I still own a transistor radio.

He enjoys high end dining.

I get excited when Taco Bell has a buy one, get one free burrito.

He flies from San Diego to Las Vegas.

We just finished a vacation, driving from Colorado, to San Diego, back through Vegas, and home to Colorado.

He took pictures of finished drafts with his cell phone.

I don't own a cell phone.

He is a guy that I'll look up at every draft. Just so we can share a laugh at our mirror image.

Matt Anderson, Rick Thomas. Ken Norred, Neal Moses, Steve Wells it was great seeing you guys. All class people. Rick, thanks again for the cd's.

Saving the best for last, Andy Nolan and Kent Stermon.

You guys are the best.

Anybody that has had a run in with Kent on the Boards, or in e-mails should meet him for five minutes. If having a problem beforehand, it would melt away.

Genuine, and genuinely funny.

Andy, always good seeing you.

We think a lot alike. And, when we don't, it is even more enjoyable seeing why the other guy feels differently.

Thanks for the updates during the 20th round break, it influenced two of my picks.

I was miffed after leaving the draft. I left not knowing who Chris had picked for you in the 30th round . E-Mail me.

.

I'm uncomfortable in places like the Bellagio. It's as wasted on me as the Playboy Mansion is for a gay fella.

But, the folks in that room made me feel like I was at a backyard barbeque with friends. The Bellagio's trappings took at a backseat to the quality of people in its own room.

That, is what I'll take away most from this draft..

. Dan,

Just wait until you see me and Ken at the table together. You'll need a translator.

Cheers!

Funniest thing anybody said to me this weekend... Chest I miss some of your posts with you not being active on the boards anymore. We need to just shine the bat light in to the sky when there is a jackoff on the boards. I just saw the light I think Wayne Edwards turned it on and saw Team Z.

By the way I am out on a limb and predict this is the year Wayne Edwards wins the main event even in that stacked league.

Ill give a big Shout out to greg as i think he has a done a great gob keeping these drafts alive as it is my favorite time of the year to come and see and make new friends each and i think greg deserves a big thank you from alot of us .

Do alot of drafts with Rex and he did a great job as always

Dont know if i would call it love doing a draft with Shawn as i tend to do few with him each year but he is a great guy and do enjoy some of his insights on drafting and hangin out for the week with him and others that are out here for the next week is a great experience but we mightr have to temper our praise for the HOFame a we dont need his head getting too big, just kidding of course ]

Hey Wayne

You will be fine this year Mark is a friend and a good guy. Weird how you keep getting tough leagues. Orlando might be in cards next year, if so will go there again and hook up wiyh you and Dave. Love Doughs comparisons, believe I am old school like you. Finally figured how to text 2 years ago. Never met you but posts are great, me you and Brian had a nice shot in year 2. Good luck to both of you. Oh by the way who does one take at pick 5.

Marty Marty I drafted at 5 on Saturday. Was hoping to start Votto and Mcutchen or Cargo and either Zimm or Youkilis. Votto went at 4. I had my choice of Mcutchen or Zimmerman in the second. Things got real thin and no one fell to me in the 7th and the 8th. To me those were the 2 rounds I feared the most when seeing pick 5 and it came to fruition.

Funny comparison Dough. To further your point, that wasn't a cell phone and I wasn't taking pictures - it was a Flip video cam. To someone who doesn't own a cell phone, I guess anything black and rectangular that fits in your pocket might as well be a cell phone. :D

I'm looking forward to the day you show up for a draft with an iPad and shock us all. ;)

Oh by the way who does one take at pick 5.

Marty Sound great, Marty. Dave and I have been going to Vegas since the Florida experiment died, but speaking for myself, I would be open to Florida next year. It would be good to get the Grapefruit Gang back together.

Five is one of the more interesting picks. I have a #5 coming up in the Live Online. Just about the only two players you do not have a legit shot at is Pujols and Hanley, so the answer kind of becomes who passes down to you. It is kind of an anchor OF kind of spot or Production 1B. It would be tough to pass on Tulo or CarGo at that spot, but for me Miggy, if available, or Votto is just too much production to turn down. Neither Braun nor Crawford would be a mistake. Tough call.
