DYV - You're right Q - he is OF eligible... officially he was in 34 last year, so he should definitely have OF. My mistake

DaveI too noticed the red sticker, thought maybe i missed something. Thanks. Hope your little one is doing well.

2b/ss: Some scrub (I can't remember who I got here.. had to leave Vegas on an emergency and forgot all my papers)

Util: Biggio

SP: Halladay, Garcia, J. Marquis, O. Hernandez, Runelvys Hernandez

RP: Takatsu, Guardado, Ayala, League

Bench: Mark Prior, Barry Bonds, Lance Berkman, Wily Mo Pena, Wily Taveras, Vinny Castilla, Dave Williams Excellent pwr, right on the money for optimum HRs; good r/rbi prdcn; light on speed but if Taveras comes thru could be middle of the pack maybe better in SBs. BA looks below avg w a linuep dominated by 265-275 hitters - but if Bonds and Berkman surprise w upside and/or playing time, it could be better.

If Prior gets close to my proj of 24 starts, pitching is very solid. ERA and WHIP should be excellent despite Runlevys and D Williams who I think could be 4.50/1.45 type pitchers or worse.

Wins look good and K's OK, but not much margin for error if Prior really does have a more serious injury. Saves are OK, but with Guardado missing some time you'll need Ayala or a WW add to make up 10-20 saves.

In a h2h battle, I have you and GG each winning 5 categories (the only 2 teams I've run numbers on so far).

Let me know what you think? Ok, back to the evals:

Bobby J... the Roberts Bros. speed company helps you get a good leg up. Not sure the extent of Dave's injury at this point, but something to be aware of... will it linger?

Pujols and Rolen sure got the power numbers started with a bang... wow, quite a top 2 picks IMHO. Your #5 OF is fighting with old man Conine for a job, that's not good btw

Overall I'd give it a very solid review - no major weaknesses, some very solid offense. Your pitching staff going in looks to be all around and solid. May have to dig up a few good whip/era middle relievers to protect your numbers if you run out all those SP each week, but easily a workable team.

Very nice.
Thanks Kevin, how did you handle the projections for my bench guys? I'm wondering how I take what Berkman should do in 4.5 months + Ibanez for 1.5 months and mash those together to fill the position, etc. I'm kind of planning on the same timeframe for Bonds, so like 4.5 months of Bonds and 1.5 months from Biggio then about May whatever move Biggio to 2b/ss and the scrub to waivers. I'll get this kind of production out of my 2b/ss for now (year projection): 60 runs, 10 HR, 40 RBI, 14 SB, .270. Not sure who that is if I have them already or they are going to be scraped up from waivers, but I'll fill that spot with something productive.

I suspect I'll end up going to the waivers for replacements for Williams and Runelvys - whether I pick up Middle Relievers or SP will be determined by what I can get at what price ...

Thanks for the thoughts -
Since I have those two combined missing about 1/2 the season, I tossed in 50% of Ibanez (for him and someone like him off the WW while those two are out). I assumed Biggio at MI since I didnt know who else you had there, wouldn't move the proj much for the first month.

Hi, guys. I will now present my team for your critique. Drafted in LAS VEGAS 5 with the 7th pick. It looks balanced to me but of course I'm biased.

C- I. Rodriguez/Mauer

1B - Sexson

2B - Soriano

3B - Blake

SS - Jeter

CI - Chad Tracy

MI - Russ Adams

OFS - Dunn, G.Anderson, J. Lane, S. Stewart

J. Gibbons

DH - E. Durazo

Bench - Gathright, N. Johnson

SPs - Smoltz, Zito, Lowe, Benson, Meche, N. Robertson, Ledezma, Joe Mays, H. Ramirez

RPs - B. Wagner, M. Batista, M. Dejean, C. Reitsma, Kiko Calero

Any comment is appreciated.

oscar Looks pretty balanced to me, Oscar - a few holes on offense (CI and MI are substandard... plus your #4 and #5 OF may not produce quite enough)

Your pitching is solid, but again minor holes - I'd start a stud middle reliever over Joe Mays... your closers are adequate to get you middle of the pack but not to excel.

I think you'll be very competitive with good all around stats. Your batting average will probably be your worst category.

I'll take a stab at what you're asking.

Taking the avg stats of 6 publications, my spreadsheets spits out the cumulative stats of your team. Comparing that with a reasonable league finish from last year, I can determine where you place in each cat from 1 to 15. The only stats that are adjusted are based on IP or AB's. I don't touch anything else.

Flattop actually had solid AVG guys and really low SB's

Dyv [/QB]
Yeah, but you could have gotten 275+ with a 15 and 1 below...you had 5. Once you hit 15, you're arguably in the top 25 already in that category. You don't need an additional 33% to get through those 25 guys.

I show Prior with 211, Halladay 152, Garcia 176, Marquis at 136, Orlando produces about 100, Dave Williams a good year at 114. Guardado, Takatsu and Ayala add up to about 160 for a total of about 1050 or so.. would expect that to be about an 8 ? Wins I project out closer to 9 as well.

(No problem if your projections are showing different - just wanted to make sure)

Thanks for doing all this - much appreciated!
