This guy has to be the ultimate wild card. Potential up the ying yang.. but having elbow discomfort (still)
He lasted to round 4 in CHI-LG 4... and even after taking Pedro(2nd),Oswalt(3rd).. I rolled the dice on Prior as my 4th rounder.
Probably not the smartest move.. but I like to GAMBLE

good luck with that, I tried it last year and found it was impossible to make up ground on the offensive side and of course Prior and Halliday went down with injuries.
NY League #2 Prior went pick #14 of the 5th round

I also took Prior in the 6th round. Like Dyv, I've got my fingers crossed.

It was fun though everyone seemed cool It was fun--just too long. I did the $5K mixed on Sunday as well, and it took about an hour to 1.5 hours less time to complete it. That was with major technical issues for the first half hour.
Good luck and see you on the message boards.

yeah it was fun and i thought with exception of a couple of the chicago teams who i thought were weak everyone seemed pretty even -- that kid on team 10 got some good deals in the middle ill give him credit for that -- im a lil worried about my avg but i feel confident otherwise

In NY #3 Mark Prior was drafted in the 4th round by team 13. Prior is an interesting draft risk, but so is Barry Bonds. He went in round 2 in my league, yet I saw a few of the other boards where he was going in rounds 4-6.

JAR,
The real question is, what bats did you pass up to take Pedro (2nd), Oswalt (3rd) and Prior (4th)? You paid a premium for tier-B pitchers, which rarely ever pans out.
It's an expensive lesson to learn, but one you won't forget. =)

i would hardly call pedro oswalt and prior tier b -- prior is an injury risk but if healthy he could be best in mlb -- i dunno if i woulda took all 3 seems excessive but they all are tremendous pitchers

[/QUOTE]The funny thing is... I have my projected starting lineup without Bonds, Berkman and Prior scoring enough points to have put me around the top 30 overall last year.
"My uppercut is wicked, but my jab ain't half bad"
I think the trick here is that KNOWING Bonds and Berkman and Prior will miss some time meant instead of drafting backup closers in the mid rounds meant I had to get more beef in my lineup and pitching backup to cover. My lineup won't be floundering around with the 90th ranked OF starting for me... and to paraphrase... "That will make all the difference"
I think I can be in the top 25 in HR and RBI without Bonds or Berkman. (Let's not talk about batting average, though...)

I think he went in the 4th or 5th in Vegas 9. I agree with Gekko. I knew I would not get him in round 8. I did not take anyone in the first 7 rounds that are injury prone. Too important that you top 7 stay healthy. Take chances later on. Took McPherson in the 15th round. He could be a top 10 3B if he can stay healthy

Gekko, I agree. Some experts in Chicago seem to put a premium on players that are on my "undraftable" list. JAR posted his team on another thread. Check it out.
My lesson? I'll be shopping on the Magnificent Mile next year! =)

I'm not playing for 3rd place in my league and warm fuzzies. I'm playing for $100k. Prior was long tossing already today - calculated risk, to be sure... but you've got plenty of guys people don't even bat an eye at going at 'regular' times who are fighting injuries right now:
Greg Aquino, Luke Hudson, CC Sabathia, Jeremy Affeldt, Brad Penny, Vincent Padilla, Joel Pineiro, etc. (and even more batters)
It's not that you disagree with whether or not to take him, that's fine... that attitude let me steal him late so I very much appreciate it
