Matt Holliday is out indefinitely following an appendectomy.
And the hits just keep on coming for the Cardinals. Holliday will be evaluated after the surgery before the Cardinals determine how much time he'll miss. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes that it usually takes 4-6 weeks before a player can begin "strenuous activity," but it's not clear if that's the sort of timetable we're looking at with Holliday. Either way, he's almost certainly headed to the disabled list. Jon Jay and Allen Craig will see the bulk of the playing time while Holliday is on the shelf.

I assumed this was April Fools, but sadly, it's true. Tough break for his owners.

Tough break for his owners. Only reason you draft this guy over Hamilton or Cruz was because of his health grade/record.

I have read the 4-6 is off and will probably be on the short end of a 2-4 week guess.

This is gross. Disgusting.

this is terrible news. as someone pointed out, the reason you take holliday over cruz and the like is his health. this could also have a trickle down effect as well, ie poodles not seeing anything to hit.
maybe the owner in my vegas league knew something when he selected miggy over poodles at the one hole last weekend.

Just got hit on the hand with an Ian Kennedy pitch. Oh brother. He's staying in the game at least
