First, who are the only two players to hit 400 home runs and 150 triples?

Hint: The answer is not Willie Mays, in fact, neither hitter was considered 'fast'.

The answer will be at the end of the post.

After watching Ubaldo Jimenez yesterday, I would be very concerned if I owned him.

His velocity was mostly around 90 mph on his fastballs. Hittable, very hittable.

While exchanging e-mails with a friend, I mentioned how Nick Swisher had transformed himself last year.

He used to be an on base machine.

Last year, a great year for him, he had just 58 walks.

My friend suggested that Swisher had gone the Youkilis route and started punishing pitchers early in the count.

Here is what Swisher did on early pitches last year:

On 0-0 and 1-0 counts, Swisher went 53 for 112.

A .473 average in 20 per cent of his total at bats!

Good catch, Andy.

Who has the most saves in Cardinals history?

Waiting....

Waiting...

Waiting...

Alright, he pitched just the other day...

Jason Isringhausen.

For those that answered Bruce Sutter. Sutter is fourth on that list coming after Isringhausen, Lee Smith, and Todd Worrell.

How much have times changed?

In 1897, Cleveland scheduled their first Sunday game.

As soon as the Cleveland players and the umpire took the field, they were all arrested.

At the time, there were laws restricting activities on the sabbath in Cleveland.

For those of you going to the Indians first Sunday game, give that a thought as you drink your first cold one :D .

There have only been two saves in the American League this year.

Jonathon Broxton has two saves.

There has already been 32 steal attempts...

Hard to tell which first rounder had the worst opening game....

Carl Crawford went 0-4 with his new team and struck out three times.

Albert Pujols went 0-5 and grounded into three double plays

For those folks saying that they can wait on saves and just grab Ryan Franklin, John Axford, or Brandon Lyon later...

The backfire of that strategy hit early this year...

28 players have scored at least two runs....

Eight of those players came from the White Sox-Indians game....

The answer to the question:

Lou Gehrig and Stan Musial

The strategy isn't to wait on saves and pick up slop like Franklin and Axford and Lyons. The strategy is to pick good real players in those valuable mid-rounds and then pick up even worse closer slop 6-7 rounds later (along with flier guys like Burnett, Peralta, etc) and spend like you're drunk on FAAB closers.
