I switch Grandy and Votto in the first round. Posey is too risky for me in the 3rd.

these are the biggest surprises to me

Rd 1

12. Joey Votto- I think he goes earlier. He does it all.

14. Evan Longoria - With out SBs- I would pass in the 1st round. I suffered with him all year (until the 3 run hr)

RD3

8. Eric Hosmer- Big risk here - I just don't see it.

11. Buster Posey- off very serious injury and under performing before the injury?

14. Alex Gordon- how fast we forget about the ugly. Is this the biggest ADP move of non rookies? also only OF next year.

rd 4

6. David Price- Bargin here

9. Ian Kennedy- Buyer beware

Choo and Posey were taken several rounds higher than I expected based on their uncertain status.

Not saying I would take Hosmer late 3rd but I think that is the range he will go this year.

The 4th round pitchers seem to be good values overall.

15. Brandon Phillips

For what I think Joe Mauer will deliver vs. other top catching options going forward, I think this is a bit too early. He might have a .310 Ave again, but his power numbers are going to be blown away by some of the other catchers going forward. Twins are happy he took the "Home Town Discount"!

Mike Morse... Was he even drafted last year? Will be interesting to see if he can do it again and whether or not he can perform like a 5th round pick should. Drafted in front of Konerko?!?!

Stratsburg will be on an innings limit in 2012, but could easily out perform this spot by 2 rounds or so if he gets to 175 innings.

Has Craig Kimbrel met Jonathon Broxton?

This was a contract year for Jimmy Rollins...

Wow- really nice pitching picks this round. I would love to get Stass here- I know he will have an innings limit- but the guy is efficient. He will be the top 3 pitcher off the board in 2013. I thought Price was good in the 4th, Love Lester in this spot too.

really like Napoli w/ the last pk of the 3rd

Lawrie? seems a tad early

*didn't see the 5th rd had been posted, now I REALLY can't believe Lawrie was taken in the 4th, before Youk & Panda

the guy that took lawrie probably thinks that 1) 3 basemen need to weigh less than 275 pounds 2) actually play baseball 3) realizes that 20-25 steals can make up for some other stuff at 3b. it is a risk- but aren't yooooooooook and fat boy risks also?

I promised the rest of our crew that I wouldn't post any more rounds.

We're close to finishing up the ninth round now.

Ialso don't want to leave you guys high and dry, so I'll throw out these nuggets.

These players went close together

Bourn- Utley

Stubbs- Moore

Bonifacio- Jeter

Maybin- Werth

I'm still goin' w/ the Fat Boys though :D

Also w/ regard to Dough's recent post I concede I'm a biased (and depressed) Phillies fan, but if Chase Utley is going in rd's 8-9 I'm BUYING! I think he gets back to his 09 #'s in 2012. I prefer Maybin over Werth. Werth seems like his best days are behind him, Maybins are yet to come. I saw alot of West coast gms this yr (love Scully & Enberg) and Maybin stood out to me as a guy I should pay more attention too.

Surprisingly, I like Bonifacio over Jeter. Having him at SS or 3B is sweet, plenty of SB/R....hopefully Ozzie doesn't mess w/ Trader Jack's guy.

Keep'em comin guys!
Always be closing.

Now that it's been announced that Ryan Howard has a torn Achilles tendon and could miss the start of the season, where does he go on Draft Day? It will take him about 6 months to recover from this after surgery and that is April. How far does he drop with this news?

I had surgery for a PARTIALLY torn achilles. After 15 months, you are fully healed and only 80-90% of what you were pre tear. My surgeon told me that a full tear never gets back more then 80%. 6 months is a pipe dream. For comparison, see Nolan Reimold who had achilles surgery and only seemed back this year after the late09 surgery.
