It is painfully obvious that the twenty league facilitators were not on the same page with respect to rules of conduct in the draft. Next season, each facilitator should have a written set of guidelines and the same set of guidelines should be available to league owners in case there is a question. Examples noted on the board to date include but are not limited to:



1. Power for laptops

2. Additional time given after a duplicated pick

3. When the clock starts after a pick is made

4. Insuring each team has a valid lineup

5. Who is available to be drafted (e.g., can retired players be drafted?)

6. Breaks



Also, the "helpers" need to be just that. They should know pretty much all the players that can be drafted. Ours in NY7 really seemed to slow the show up after the first few rounds were finished. The facilitator constantly had to go help find drfated players which caused the draft to slow down a lot.

Viper, too bad you were not in my league again this year. In league NY 1, the facilitator, Doug, was the same guy from last year in New York 4. For the most part everything went smoothly and we were finished in about 4 hours.

To respond, we do have a written set of guidelines that we give to all of our facilitators covering many of the issues you raised above. But we will continue to work harder to make sure we have everyone on the same page going forward.

*This rule is/should be enforced by Rocky,Tom and Greg, not fascilitators...

*A duplicated pick was considered a "Mulligan". The team had an extra 30 seconds to pick.





3. When the clock starts after a pick is made



*The clock starts when the sticker hits the board. It wouldn't be fair to start it after the teams calls his pick because there are times when it takes a little longer to get the pick on the board. (For instance, a player that ends up being a write in may take up to 2-3 minutes until it gets on the board.)



4. Insuring each team has a valid lineup



*Definitely a fascilitator's responsibility.



5. Who is available to be drafted (e.g., can retired players be drafted?)



*I would think it would just be a write in, and Stats Inc. would take it from there.



6. Breaks



*15 Minute breaks after rounds 10 and 20...Did your breaks last longer or shorter than that? Just curious what your opinion of the breaks was.

The facilitator constantly had to go help find drfated players which caused the draft to slow down a lot. *I'm not sure how good or bad league 7 was, but not only did fascilitators need to know every player's name and position, but also needed to know which league because the stickers were in alphabetical order AND divided between AL and NL. Tough job. Until this past baseball draft, I thought Otsuka was a Japanese seasoning for Sushi.

Rocky requested, several times, that drafters announce position and name to facilitate finding the stickers.



Most of the drafters in NY 7 ignored the request and time after time just gave a name, while the sticker guy looked through all the stacks to find him. I know it was a a problem because I'm equally clueless on many players and I had to ask what position to check them off. When the knowledgable guy next to me told me, I told the sticker guy.



If you want somebody to blame, gents, look to yourselves.
