John Danks - STANKS!

Post by Winston's Empire » Thu May 26, 2011 4:47 am

I hope I am not the only one, but I grabbed John Danks in 3 of my bigger leagues hoping he would step up and continue to improve in his career. At only 26, he has had a decent whip, decent era, is a work horse for his age innings wise, and has improved his wins from 12 to 13 to 15 wins in the last 3 years. He doesn't strike out a ton of guys, but that too was improving with 162 k's in 2010.

This year however, he has sucked and / or had bad luck and doesn't have a win to his name. Obviously I wouldn't drop him, but do I keep running this guy out there...

Thoughts?

Ozzie is always there to help, what do you think Ozzie?

Droppable. In an extreme pitcher's year, Danks does not provide elite k totals and his ERA and WHIP are both average at best in the year of the pitcher II. Without wins he's only a few k's better than Buehrle. Is HE undroppable? The White Sox are a mess, their bullpen is a mess, their manager is a mess, and this is not Danks' year.

66.2 IP, 32K, 17BB, 1.35 WHIP, 3.92 ERA, 4 W

66.1 IP, 45K, 24BB, 1.45 WHIP, 4.34 ERA, 0 W

Is this a joke? 6 er's in the first inning...51 pitches and my blood pressure tripled! Now my teams are DONE!

Thanks Danks

Not sure it can get worse guys... My ERA in KJs keeper league started the week at 3.500 and right now is at 4.037...

I do have Britton, Cueto, and Vargas going yet today, so things could get better

Danks and Cain have ruined my Sunday however ;)

Oh well... There is always 2012, The year the World ends!

Danks had the nuts to try and call out J Bautista for being a "clown" today, this after having given up 9 ER's.

Here's a way to hose your team in one day. My auction team has Vargas, Danks, Nolasco, and Karstens all going. If I wasn't already sniffing the basement, I would cry.

Oh Great Glenn.... Ozzie switched Peavy and Danks in the rotation, making Danks a 2 Start Pitcher next week against Seatle and Oakland... You know I am going to take that flyer, what do I have to loose? HAHAHAHA ;)

I only have him in 60% of my leagues, whats the worst that can happen right!

Max,

Don't put the cart in front of the horse! I think this scenario is just as likely:

Monday - vs. Seattle

Tuesday - Long Reliever!

Its just as likely Ozzie just sends him down to A Ball after his start at Seattle!

Treat him like he did that kid a few years ago that failed to knock down an opposing hitter at Ozzie's direction! :D

If anyone saved Stanks from the WAIVER WIRE WORLD, feel free to book em for 2 starts this week...I have officially released him and as my intro to the NFBC continues....he will eliminate the monkey from his back against Seattle..possible no hitter-certainly first win...good luck and good riddance John Stanks!
