I just wanted to make sure I am seeing the same thing everyone else is. On my league page it is telling me that the stats were last updated last night.

Am I correct that they are now behind?

I have no specifics but I know I woke up with 6 less points than when I went bed according to live scoring. I'm going to start printing everything out everyday. Although these pages aren't exactly printer friendly.

At some point before standings are updated the day's stats get accounted for in "previous stats" and then get added again as live scoring. It seems to happen near or aournd 10-11pm pacific.

Joe,

In my mind it is explained. Live Scoring is just a feature to keep us all pacified before the official stats run overnight. They don't advertise Live Scoring to be official and there will be/have been mistakes from time to time with Live Scoring. It is not a perfect or an official scoring tool nor is it advertised as one.

I laugh everytime someone posts "where's my sb from so-and-so", etc. when it is not updated correctly via Live Scoring. Just write a note down, check the stats in the morning, and if something is amiss then notify the proper authorities.

Live scoring always has that small window late at night where the stats from that night are already in the totals and then get re-added in again so it doubles the stats from the night. Been that way for years in that small window very late, I see a lot being on the West Coast.

Thanks guys, I've never paid close enough attention to the totals. I watch religiously most of the evening, simply have 100% faith in the system. Lately there have been some questions and the stats had to be re-run this week. I asked if there was a check and balance in place and most don't think it's needed.

I'm going to print everything out each day to check from now on. I've never done that before.

There are two separate steams of statistics. The live stats are generated by stringers that are at the game, inputting code into their laptop/PC that gets converted into the live stat stream. The code is sort of like stenography - scoring shorthand. Certain plays have certain codes, etc. These are sent out "real-time" and feed the live scoring.

Each pitch is coded, not just the action plays so the stringer has to enter the code and move on.

Mistakes can be made quite easily with respect to hit/error, earned/unearned, steal/indifference, etc. Often, the stringer does not have time to correct, or may not realize there was a mistake.

After the game, these stats are scrubbed into an official archive of the game, which is then sent out as a second stream. This is what feeds the official roto standings.

There is actually a third and even fourth layer. The third is the official scorer has I believe 24 hours to change a judgment and the fourth is what recently happened with Andrew McCutchen where there was an actual appeal of a ruling.
