Alex Avila has more home runs and rbi than Victor Martinez.

Alex Avila has more rbi than any other catcher in baseball

Kelly Johnson is suffering through a horrible season. He has 12 home runs, 31 rbi, and a .207 batting average....All better than Dan Uggla

Ramon Hernandez has more home runs (8) in 152 at bats than Andre Ethier in 284 at bats (7)

Phil Coke has nine straight games without giving up a homer.

Phil Coke has 11 straight games without a victory.

Ian Kinsler has 67 hits and has scored 52 runs.

Casey Kotchman has 69 hits and has scored 17 runs.

Is Robinson Cano really a first round pick?

.290/46/14/48/6

.290/56/14/33/7

The top line is Cano's

The bottom line is Rickey Weeks

How empty is Ryan Theriot's .293 average?

He has one homer, four stolen bases and 31 runs scored

Dexter Fowler who was dl'ed weeks ago then sent down to the minors had a .238 average.

He has scored more runs than Theriot with 33.

Josh Thole, Melvin Mora, and Ruben Tejada are a MUST NOT owns in fantasy baseball.

All have over 100 at bats without a homer or stolen base.

Thole takes the top prize with the most at bats, 169

Thousands of players have played with blue eyes.

None had used it as an excuse to not hit in daylight till Josh Hamilton came along.

This year, Hamilton is hitting .113 during day games.

Last year, with eyes as blue, he hit .286 during the afternoon.

Despite statistics that are close to Brent Lillibridge stats, Hamilton is a leader in the All-Sar voting

Who went higher in your draft?

Lance Berkman has 18 homers.

Jason Heyward has 18 rbi

Curtis Granderson has 21 homers

Alex Rios has 20 rbi

Last year, Matt Kemp had 19 stolen bases

This year, he already has 21 stolen bases

Last year, Aaron Hill had 26 homers

This year, Aaron Hill has three homers

Sinker ballers get a lot of notariety, but the top five E.R.A. pitchers in baseball are fly ball pitchers

Beckett 1.86

Weaver 1.97

Jurrjens 2.07

Shields 2.29

Verlander 2.38

Derek Jeter turned 37 years old yesterday.

He has 2,994 hits

Pete Rose had 2,976 hits on his 37th birthday

Again, a case where 'on pace' does not apply.

For those that think that we're sly for picking up an injured player late in a draft...

Morneau- four homers

Utley- three homers

Sizemore- Zero stolen bases

Morales- Zeroes across the board

Schmart.

The Twins have only played 30 games at home this year, 46 on the road.

The Atlanta Braves have 23 stolen bases.

Three individuals (Bourn, Reyes, Ellsbury) have more than 23 stolen bases.

Both L.A. teams have played 79 games this year.

Both L.A. teams have scored 297 runs this year

Jose Bautista had a wonderful year last year and a nice one this year....

Prior to last year, he was already in the Major league record book for a more dubious 'achievment'....

He played with four different teams in one year (2004)

The only player to have 'accomplished' it

Great Stuff as always Dough!

The thing I find most interesting is the Jeter and Rose comparison. At around 37, Pete was just starting his days in Philly! Will we see Jeter's #2 in a different uniform before he calls it quits? I don't see the Yankee's wanting him at his current production levels beyond another year or two and other teams might look at him as a way to bring in fans (or not!). Plus Jeter is already sitting on a MOUNTAIN of cash and things were different in Pete's days. Just interesting all the way across the board...

Dough:

If your a Mets fan going back to when McCarver was our announcer, you would know that he would always end the Bob Gibson story with Gibson saying to McCarver: " the only thing you know about pitching is that its hard to hit."

...unless of course your moniker is a different quote and in that case- never mind.

I know, Dub.

This was another one from the Gibson quotes. Gibson would have killed Posada who felt lonely without a teammate to talk to for over three pitches

I'm changing the quote soon to a Mickey Mantle quote.

Max, where have you been?

You've been missed.

The parallels between Jeter and Rose virtually stop at the birthdays and number of hits.

At 37, Rose was still a hitting machine and a baseball slutt .

Jeter is clearly in decline and most likely would not be starting for most teams without his history.

Jeter is like Cal Ripken during his late years with the Orioles.

Still the leader.

Still the franchise face.

Still a Hall of Famer

BUT, fans of both franchises wouldn't mind them riding off into the sunset sooner than later.

Interesting, I've found that it bleeps out slutt and Hitlerr. Neither, on George Carlin's list.

Thanks Dough... I just have been busy and my teams all seem to suck this year, so other things like watching paint dry have been more fun at times than baseball!

I always read the boards, just don't always comment...

When I was a kid nothing was greater to me than my baseball cards. OLD cards to me back then were the early 80's and late 70's LOL Its where I learned about Pete's hair cut for the first time! Learned about the gambling later...

You are correct!

I'll blame my little 'red book' from Elias, they omitted Kingman.

Great stat on Hanley!

I can't even blame Elias afterall.

I have to blame my reading comprehension skills.

It says the record is held by many and Bautista was the last one to do it in 2004.
