Happy 4th of July to all. For some reason I didn't get this weeks newsletter. After last weeks passionate discussion I was curious to to read how it was presented to those that don't always visit the boards.
Could someone forward me the communication? I was told it went out to everyone, I simply did not receive it.
Thanks.

EXPLAINING HOW THE DL RULES WORKS
We have had some confusion as to how the Friday DL Pitcher rule works in the NFBC, so we are updating everyone here in the newsletter so that everyone is on the same page. The system is set up this way:
** Pitchers who are officially on the DL can be put in your starting rotation for the Monday-Thursday period and allowed to be replaced by any other pitcher on your bench for Friday-Sunday before they lose that DL designation. If a DL pitcher comes off the DL in time to pitch during the Monday-Thursday period and an NFBC owner replaces him for the weekend before he loses that DL designation, that transaction is legal under our setup and the second pitcher still accumulates stats for the weekend period. Owners can do this, but they must replace the DL pitcher while he still is officially DL eligible. No moves can be made after he loses the DL designation because obviously he's no longer on the DL.
This does not happen often, but it happened twice last week and brought it to our attention. For instance, Jake Peavy came off the DL on Wednesday and some owners started him and then replaced him for the weekend series before he lost his DL designation. Peavy did come back to pitch again on the weekend, but some owners did get his start on Wednesday and a different pitcher for the weekend. This is legal under our current setup and all owners should be aware of that. Again, Peavy could be replaced for the Friday-Sunday period while he had the DL designation and not after he lost it.
** Owners can start pitchers on the DL for the Monday-Thursday period and even if they don't pitch they can be replaced for the Friday-Sunday period by another pitcher from your reserve roster. That position still only gets one start during the week, but some owners do use that strategy to avoid a bad first start during a two-start period for one of their SPs.
The DL rule was primarily set up with hitters in mind and we tweaked this rule for hitters starting in 2010 to allow any move for the weekend games. This remains in effect but only for hitters. We will likely address the Friday DL rule for pitchers at season's end to avoid future confusion and it's possible the rule isn't needed for pitchers. But we definitely will not allow Friday changes for all pitchers like we have for hitters; streaming pitchers is not the direction the NFBC wants to go in.
Check your rosters each week and if you do have a DL pitcher who is coming off the disabled list realize that there are options you have and more decisions you have to make. But once that player loses his DL designation, he can't be moved to reserve. That's when he remains in your starting lineup whether he is ready to pitch during that period or not. Good luck all.
