free agent availability

Post by bjoak » Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:46 am

I have a question about who is eligible to be picked up. My understanding was that players were not on a major league roster would not be eligible to be picked up as free agents until they appeared in a game this year. In the rules it says the following: "Any player who is not on a team roster within your league and is on a major league roster or once was on an NFBC team in your league is considered a free agent for that league."

So why, then, was Rich Harden available to be picked up last week? No one ever owned him in my league and he pitched for the first time yesterday. It seems as though I've seen this kind of thing before. I think Dillon Gee was available before he had appeared in a game.

Thanks!
